I went to my first SGBoston event this weekend, which was a lot of fun. Though it was Bailey and Sid's birthday, Bailey couldn't make it (for lack of transport), which was both ironic and unfortunate.

Some observations:

-- Sid is incredibly cute (and very tiny) in person. At one point I found myself staring at her back lacings in rapt fascination.

-- Everybody...

well i can't speak for the rest of them but i loved meeting you... you were one of the best parts of the party smile
legionnaire:
Yeah, that blood draw was brutal. Now at least it's spread out into a single, giant, uniform bruise. whatever MD's... what can you do?

Glad to hear you're getting out and joining in the SG social scene. Honestly that's my favorite part of the site, having a good group of people to go out with on a regular basis has been really fun.

He also said that you should be sure that you clean it first thing in the morning as you might sweat a bit more. and watch for keliod scars. He says if you see those to get in touch with me and i can forward his email.

Notes on the body as self:

Lots of things are changing in my life right now, and it has left me somewhat insecure.

But I realized, that's quite pointless, isn't it?

My hair right now is the color that grows out of my head. What is it? Brownish blondish redish dishwater? - that color -you know the one. The one girls who were blonde as...

what's up in providence?
are you all up in that RISD?
legionnaire:
Yeah, I really can't stand the whole idea that being an MD is somehow better or more prestigious than being a PhD. In fact, I was about a hair's breadth away from going to grad school at Johns Hopkins instead of Columbia, and the deciding factor for me was talking to a postdoc who told me that when she was there, all of the MDs were treated like gods and the PhDs were second class citizens. I figured I didn't want to be in a culture like that. Unfortunately, as soon as I got to Columbia we got a new dean who's an MD and is trying his hardest to change it to a more MD dominated model. Really annoying. As if them making more money already wasn't enough, right?

have you ever cut your own hair? it's the most liberating feeling ever... i was going to shave my head, but the other day, i just started cutting (because it looked so awful... it's way overprocessed; i had very colorful hair up until a few months ago, then i dyed it black, which is now fading and looks like shit) and i ended up cutting it into a shape that i like. i can't wait to cut it again! it was soooo cool.

Since it seemed an appropriate choice, I uploaded a picture of my back tattoo here.

Though people may call it a "tribal," I don't personally agree with that designation. It has nothing to do with any "tribe"! Rather, I call it a design.

It is vaguely meant to represent the flow of energy from the small of the back up the spine.

It's a very...

I'm slightly frustrated. ARRR!!! ARRR!!!

So, I'm going shopping, and as usual dressed as a schlub. Hair sticking up straight, of course, no makeup, whatever clothes, tattoos showing. That kind of thing.

I go to the Lancome counter to buy some stuff because even though I don't wear makeup all the time, I love the stuff, and perfumes, and skin cream, and free gift promotions, etc. etc.

And of course...

Ah, I don't care that much anymore; no need for revenge. It was just annoying at the time.

For the past two years, I haven't had time to do much of anything except schoolwork. For this reason, I haven't read a book just for fun in a very long time. I'm out of practice, but this month, since I have more time, I want to read. I have a very long list of books that I have been intending to read or re-read...

Brave New World, Catch-22, and Beloved are all fantastic books. I would have to say that I was not a fan of Naked Lunch, though. I usually like stream-of-consciousness style (especially a la Joyce or Faukner), but Burroughs was just too much. Mostly due, I think, to the lack of plot. I would suggest putting that one aside before the other classics.

For a good, more modern novel, check out Kissing in Manhattan, by David Schickler. It's a great collection of vignettes that all tie together, all centering on slightly odd and downright fascinating characters.

After you Read Chuck Palahniuk Read "The Contourtionist's Handbook" by Craig Clevenger. It's a very very good and detailed book. You'll like it if you like Chuck, I promise.

I have been blessed/cursed with uncannily large tragi. I have had one pierced for quite a while, and now I'm thinking, I could fit another ring on this thing.

While I'm at it, maybe I'll do a rook too. I'll have to sleep on the other side for a while anyway.

No more blurry, today I'm Sad Mac #0F0003.

I was thinking, if I were to even try to do a photoset, I'd end up wanting to do something totally different anyhow. Like, start fully clothed. Then for each subsequent picture, add more clothing. Sweaters, scarves, winter coat, earmuffs. And somehow I'm guessing that wouldn't quite do.

I joined the "SG Hopeful" group, more for a theoretical interest than for any actual intention. Also note blurred face. (Or maybe I look like that in real life. I won't say)

I have a job where it would not be good to do things such as post naked and recognizable pictures online. And other similar things. And some non-similar things as well. But in...
