Yeah, it kind of went rumble-rumble-rumble-RUMBLE-RUMBLE-JOLT! here. Unnerving indeed.. didn't know if that big jolt was the end or if it was going to get worse. I was kneeling down putting together a cabinet and was starting to stand up when the big jolt hit, and I just kind of knelt back down to see what was going to happen next. Then the dogs went nuts and the whole thing was over.
I was more worried about the stupid flatscreen TV we have sitting on our fireplace mantle because we still haven't got around to putting the stupid earthquake straps on it. Hah.
My baby was born with a mullet, by the way. But it's like an accountant's mullet. A ring around the head, bald on top, that ends in a mullet in the back.
Whether or not it stands the test of time (and how the "reboot" of the series) goes remains to be seen.
My assessment is largely personal and colored by the fact that it was exactly the kind of movie I needed to see right about now. Yay familiarity and large things blowing up in really cool ways.
It's really good. JJ Abrams managed to make a movie where lot of stuff blows up in really amazing ways without it feeling like a Michael Bay movie. That takes talent.
