Well I certainly don't blame you for being bothered...I find myself in a similar situation. The people who know me well call me an "old soul" and give me the whole "you're so mature" mantra. While I rather appreciate people seeing that in me when it comes to responsibility or what not...it can be frustrating when people around me can get away with certain things for being their age ("oh, they're young, they'll learn) whereas I will find myself scrutinized for similar actions as i'm too mature for them. Alternately, people see my baby face and often peg me as 16.
So maybe i'm not in the same boat as you, but i'm drifting around shore and I feel your pain. And honestly, I find myself searching for the same advice. However, I can tell you that having a job you love is so important. Just now i'm beginning something that will take me out of my social world and put me to work..but I can't wait! Real friends will understand what professional life is like and help make things work with you. There are sacrifices in everything, but your happiness should always be the frontrunner in your decisions! If you need to cut back some hours to find that happiness outside of work, do it!
