something happened this weekend...I can't believe it.
There was a girl that I dated over three years ago.
I got a call from a local hospital on Friday night, from a nurse, stating that my ex had listed me as her emergency contact. He had been beaten up by her current/ex boyfriend and was in the hospital. I, with 3/4 of a bottle of Pinot G in my body, hopped into my jeep and headed over to the hospital to see what I can do.
I ended up taking her from the hospital back to my home town, made it to my coffee shop before it closed for the night, and got her a cup of coffee and then took her to a local Quality Inn and booked her a room for the night. She asked me to stay there with her that night and I did. I helped her change out of her clothing and into some PJs because she was too sore to really move that much and when she stood there before me, she was literally skin and bones. She does have a major eating disorder, and she had cuts on her writs. She looked horrible. I felt so bad for her. I couldn't believe what all could happen to someone, how someone could do down hill like that.
I stayed up the entire night and took her out on the town to try and brighten her spirits, and then finally I got the call from her father stating that he was going to leave their house and make the two hour journey and meet me an hour away from where we were.
I am just so happy that she is finally with her father and family who loves her.
She tried to kiss me when we were parting, as kind of a thanks for everything I've been through, and it just didn't feel right at all. I just...fuck.
It really made me think this past weekend, about shit that I didn't really want to think about and actually scared me a good deal.
I don't want to ever witness something like that again.
It is just so hard to see something like that happen to someone who I once cared so much for...
