Well, I fell out of my updating routine for a while there.

This is wholly to blame. People had told me about Library Thing on several occasions, but I avoided it as a time sink. I was right.

I've been cataloging books off and on for most of the weekend. I still have the majority of my sci-fi and fantasy novels to go; but, after three straight days, a break seemed in order. Also, I've been trying to cut down on the number of books I enter. I ignored anything that I now think is crap or don't think I would ever re-read, and I limited graphic novels to a handful of my absolute favorites.

I'm trying to catalog only the books I would actually replace if I lost them. If something is fiction, non-fiction, or poetry, I've read it and enjoyed it or plan to read it and have high expectations. If it's an anthology or reference work, I've used it frequently and found it helpful and informative. If it's a text book, I've read it more than once since college, and it has been an easy, enjoyable way of reinforcing basic principles far afield from my own academic discipline.

Anyway, if anyone should need a book recommendation, consider this as 500 or so of mine. It's a mishmash of a lot of stuff, and probably a pretty good indication of my intellectual prejudices, if anybody is interested in that sort of thing.

Domestic tranquility makes all the difference, honestly. Angus and I have our arguments but the second we're together, you can almost always just feel the Generally Content feeling fill the air, and it makes up for a world of annoyances and sadnesses.
