Here's a few songs. The first is by the very talented Rocky Votolato, and the second is by me.
Death-Right
By Rocky Votolato
You'll die young if you live so carefully
There are risks you must take to pay this world
I know it would never be that easy
I have not yet earned the right to die
I want you to hear me screaming...

I went to Starbucks today, and behind the counter was the absolute cutest barista. She told me she liked my shirt!
So now it's official: I'm in deep smit.
I'm also bored out of my mind right now... I want to work, but I want a good job that I'll like to work at; and those jobs could be a month off. Being sick doesn't...

??? How the fuck does a CD shatter in the drive? and the DVD player... ouch. Hey, good luck with the Starbucks girl... you won't need it
Never seen a movie at a drive-in. Have watched several in the car though, on a portable player. One time when we took a road trip (before DVDs were so big), we actually brought a VCR, a 3-inch TV and a power inverter that produces 110-volt AC from the cigarette lighter. We are such technology freaks.
Get well, dude. Or else.

Truth in my opinon does not need to be defined.
It simply is.
I think it is in all things.
I think it is the very root of existance.
those things humans call truth I simply see as signposts.
I see truth as going beyond the source.
by its very nature being beyond man's ability to define.
If something "is" then it has a peice of truth.
it's a jigsaw puzzle.
but to understand the whole, you really only need to know one peice.
asking me to define truth, is like asking me where souls come from.
I could give you millions of different answers, but you can only really understand by going there yourself.
...
What mankind believes makes a ripple on the surface of truth.
life is just a place to explore nothingness.
....
I really cannot explain my concept of truth in words.

Mmmm... the new Modest Mouse is yum.
My guitar finally sounds ok. Not great, but ok. I still have an issue with the B string, but it's sort of passable as decently tuned, so I'm fine with it.

I want to, oh do I ever want to. I feel like crap with a capital C. But stupid medicine (and my strange sleeping patterns) are keeping me up. I slept for maybe 1 hour, and that was because of sleeping pills (Exccedrin PM).

theatre: I was interested in high school, but never did because I was in band. I did, however, join the Music Man that a friend's church was doing. It was a load of fun, and I knew I wanted to do more of it. I took Acting I in my 2nd year at college, to meet people as well as actually to act. A girl from class and I started dating for a while, but she wasn't really interested. I ushered Medea, the first show, then got into Once in a Lifetime, playing a couple bit parts.
I took musical theatre the next semester, and we did Godspell. I really didn't want to be involved in a religious/preachy show, but it was enjoyable & I liked the music. I also dated a couple of the girls I had met in Acting I. I ought to get back in theatre so maybe I can meet someone else.
So tell me about your songs & poetry. Man, if there's one thing that you can use to impress the chicks, that's got to be it. Do you have any of it online?
And please explain what "EMO" and "AFI" are... I've heard these terms in certain threads but am clueless. Music genres?

my day was not as good as expected. I thought it was going to be an "easy" day as far as the physical labor went, but first thing in the morning and unexpected truck of ceiling tile showed up and guess who had to unload it..Yeah, i'm buff.
so, not only did i pull about half of the 13 skids of that crap, i also carried in 5 panels for a contractor. So, soreness is what i'm feeling at the moment. I pulled a muscle and almost got stuck in a crouching position soon after i pulled the skids of the truck. that was not fun.
The weather was good and everything else was fine.
Sorry to hear about your cold. Drink lot's of warm stuff and wrap yourself up real good.
get better.

I'm done being a nice guy. And a shy guy. I might still be a fry guy, but that depends on if Ronald still needs me.
Seriously, I'm turning a new leaf. No more Mr. NiceyPants. Now it's Mr. IwannagetinyourPants. Or something like that.
This is my fucking journal. I'm allowed to be dorky here, damnit!

D&D campaign was great. it was my first time, and I did pretty well. I'm still feeling out the Roleplaying bit (I'm a female rogue, which it's kinda hard to sound like, tho I've done it in MMORPG's online), but I understand the mechanics. it just seems to go too slow, and tons of Out of Character tangents occur. I hope it picks up....

If you are having difficulty meeting and associating with people, developing an intimate relationship and/or you think you might have social anxiety disorder, you might want to consider joining the group "Depression Outlet" and use the resources there. I usually check in there frequently and give out advice (not that I shouldn't be posting all of my personal problems as well :confused
. There are medications that treat social anxiety disorder, although I do not know any off hand. I'm sure any general practitioner would know, though.
As far as dating goes, you might want to consider joining the "Dating Sucks" group. There may be other similar groups here as well. If you are looking to meet someone special on SG, you should really consider posting a photo of yourself, even if you have to edit it like I did to protect your anonymity. Of course, if you did meet someone here without a photo, you could always e-mail it to her as an attachment to give her a better feel of what you look like, but you might want to state this in your profile here to clarify that matter to a potential suitor. Also, you might want to consider Matchmaker.com, Match.com or Yahoo! Personals. The prior two can be expensive, depending upon the plan that you choose, but you can post a profile on Yahoo! Personals for free and subscriptions there cost less. All have free trial memberships, I believe.
I recently updated the "Liberal Politics" group on Sunday with tons of articles, so please do check it out.

Oh, yeah. If I walked into an ice cream parlor that only sold three flavors, I would high tail it out of there and find another shop!
I hate waiting for things to happen.
Apparently, I'm still being considered for the barista job. I didn't get the Janitorial job. I don't know anything more about the geeksquad job.
clearly, I'm in the dark about work.
whatever happens, I'm sure it will all work out.

it's a tragic word to use to describe yourself.
I could care less about a career. My one goal in life now is to be a boyfriend and eventually a husband. Really, that's been my highest goal ever. To me, my life is meaningless and void without that.

I didn't get the Barista job... I might get fulltime janitorial job at that store though, it would be graves though, which isn't that great, but I'm more of a night person anyways. It would be a better job overall (no dress code, so I can get tats and piercings, and easier work).
Here's my question of the day... what's your earliest childhood...

When I was around 4, I remember running into the street and almost getting hit by a car. The car stopped about an inch from me. I didn't get scared, I guess cuz I didn't know what would happen.

i don't remember my age, but i was still in day care. My baby brother who is four years younger was still in a highchair, it was lunch time and the baby sitter had made pb&j. My brother wasn't hungry and the lady got so pissed she picked my sweet little brother up and threw him up against the wall. It really freaked me out. As soon as my mom picked us up i told her what happened and we never had to go back there again. I must have been like 5, cuz i think bro was about 1 or so. very traumatic. crazy lady.
Rocky's show was good. He's a very talented songwriter. I was able to snag a shirt from the concert, so I'm happy. Wow, man. You've been through some rough times and really pulled through. The first paragraph in your story sounds just like me.
I was born in Alaska, where my parents divorced when I was 2. My father, too, moved out of state -- twice, in fact. My mother chased him to Texas, where he remarried, then moved to New Mexico, divorced and married again.
I was diagnosed with ADD in elem school, put on ritalin and saw a shrink occasionally. I never went to an institution or treatment center, but I was moved to a special classroom for abnormal/unstable kids in the 3rd grade. I was always bored with schoolwork, and would goof off or space out in class. I was a bit of a clown, but mostly kept to myself.
Never went to camp, but spent some days at the Boys & Girls Club when I would visit my father over the summer... it's something like the YMCA. I hated everything about the place. Nobody wanted me & I didn't want them. I missed my mom. I lashed out a few times and ended up biting one kid. That was my last day there.
I don't see my father anymore. No point. He maintains a dubious "friendly" attitude towards me, my brother and sister, but hasn't made an effort to come see us in years.

i've been treadmillin it lately...good times but exercise really has no affect for me when it comes to weight loss. i can lose weight easy if i just cut back on what i eat...but you know, that's not that easy sometimes...and everytime i do i end up eating nothing and then feeling like an anorexic [despite not looking like one, heh].
anywayz...i can't live without black shirts. i wish i could live without deoderant because i hate that shit. but yeah, i use the stick kind. i don't know a lot of girls who use the spray...
and ryn- that's a good idea to join the pierced group! thanks for the advice. and athf is my fave adult swim show. although i have to say it sort of disturbed me last night. haha.

I too am enjoying the Jihad thread. I will get you those references when I go to my office. I don't keep a copy of the Q'uran at home and I have been avoiding the office since I have two weeks off (I work as a Middle East researcher and the prof I work for is in Cyprus for a conference and to observe the unification and EU bid). When I actually force my butt to get back there, I will cite you those sources for sure. I am hosting a film festival over the next couple of days, so I will also have to get back to you on the specific Paul vs. Jesus sections, but basically the conflict emerges from points where Paul contradicts the sermon on the mount (where Jesus very specifically instructs his followers to "resist not evil"). Jesus lays out a careful pacifist program of non-resistance, which includes non-participation in the roman economy. An interesting concept is the notion that "give unto Caesar" (based upon his face being on the coin) is a manner of undermining the Roman economy: Yeah, Caesar can sit on a pile of coins, but if people grow food for each other and not for malingerers like Caesar, then Caesar will starve to death unless he chips in and helps to grow food in a manner of mutual aid (the bread and fish miracle is a good example of communalizing an economy). Jesus furthers this non-resistance to evil method when he instructs his followers to grab some swords and then stops them from using them (a little late), informing them that by wielding swords, they will subject themselves to death by the same manner. Further, when he is brought before the court, he does not assist them, but he does not resist them. He does not provide Pilate with a single useful answer to any of his questions. Jesus does not participate with the Roman authorities, but at the same time he does not resist them. This is very explicit.
However, Paul begins to pave the way for Christians to excuse themselves from the centrality of pacifism to the faith. I've actually got to get to sleep now, but I'll get back to you on that stuff if you want... (sorry for making a mess of your journal)
Ciao

Hey, don't worry about the Jihad-thread! I wasn't offended by you. Plus we all have our own opinion and I do respect yours, even if it's different from mine, so it's all good. I hope I didn't sound like a judgemental bitch, I tend to have that when a topic really gets to me.
Anyway, thanks for the post. I might get that cat done on my foot. See ya
