I am a SG loaf!
Sorry, but I usually have nothing to update. I will save all my BS for one update... this one.
1. I finally figured out how I am getting paid at work. I know that sounds like a wierd statement but there was a lot of confusion of how it was going to work out. And it did... just not in my favor. How do you get a promotion but get paid less money. Bullshit! I will probably call them out October 1st for reasons that will take too long to type out.
2. One perk to the job is I get to go to the AES (Audio Engineers Society) Convention in NYC. Sadly, I only get to stay for the day. It is not in the budget to stay overnight. That's OK, NYC irritates me after a couple of days. The plus side, I will talk to some of the big-wigs of the companies there and try to land myself another job.
3. My brother got into a couple of Film Festivals for his Horror Movie Short. He just came back from Italy, 2 weeks from now, he will be in Chicago (when I will be in NYC) then Oct 20th or so, he got into the Hollywood Film Festival. I don't know, think there might be some celebrities there? He wants me to come out to it and I may stay a couple of days. So any SGLA people wanna hang out let me know. Or maybe a side trip to the Pacific NW. Hmmmm.
4. Fun stuff for me. I bought an upright bass recently. I am really picking it up fast. Faster then I would have thought. I ordered an acoustic guitar called a Taylor 714C. I probably played 100 guitars before choosing this one. Plus, Taylor is building it specifically for me. Don't ask what that costs?
5. I found out recently that 2 more of my friends are Prego. WTF? I don't want to be "Crazy Uncle Mikey" to more kids goddammit! I will just end up being there show and tell project. "This is my crazy Uncle Mikey. He likes music, video games and girls with tattoos who take their clothes off for no reason. Daddy says he is a dirty old man."
Ohh how my future looks bright!

Yup, you are definitely at that age where friends continually turn up preggers. Get used to it. It lasts until you're about 35 and then you get then whole next wave of friends who have to undergo the fertility stuff because they CAN'T get pregnant. That's the stage my friends are in right now. I try to be supportive, but it does get old. I, too, am the "crazy auntie" so I know what you mean by show & tell.
Upright bass? Cool! They're so much fun to play and of course you are BRILLIANT so you'll pick it up in no time. Did I ever tell you that I played upright bass in a (very) short lived all-girl rockabilly band my freshman year of college? We were awful. Well, our guitarist was awful, but me and the drummer were decent. I think were were called something lame like Ponytail Swing or something. Better left in the memory banks...... yikes.
Good luck to your brother at the film festival and be sure to let me know if that side trip to the Pacific Northwest happens.
