Yeah, I'm still here! My Mom has Alzhiemers, so I'm the "night aid" four nights a week for awhile. Doesn't leave much time for SG. But it makes me appreciate my little apartment soooo much more on Friday night! biggrin

Major,

Yes. It's here. If you can make it out, I promise you a challenging but amazing time. My brother and my former Alpha Company medic and current best friend Doc are coming along. Plus, believe it or not, I got email back from that cool girlie Jean who I met on the last 6 mile stretch last year. Wooo! We could get our own squad (well, team anyway) of oddballs together! Hell - we'll even have our own medic!

Some people run it like a marathon, some people run it with rucks on, I walk it with a ruck. All I really care about is finishing it and meeting some of the old soldiers. Most people I'd say just walk it. The scenery is amazing, the atmosphere is amazing - it's not easy even just walking it but it's definitely doable. Think about it...

Yes, our aviation group seemed to have disappeared when I came back. If I had more time I would host it, but I hate to say "Okay sure!" Then be a slacker...

I llike being here in Clarksvegas, lots over helicopters all day long! Although, I haven't flown at all since I have been here, lots of helos means, lots of pilots biggrin So I find lots of Type A personalities to challenge mine. tongue

- I just signed up for The Army Tenmiler in DC in Oct. What a hoot! I'm not really a runner anymore, but I have a buddy, who's obviously on crack, who likes the "happening" I do too! Like a 20,000 person party! We did the race in 2000. So occasionally, sometimes, from now until Oct 24, I may have to run around the block...

- Thanks for all the nice birthday wishes, you guys are great kiss !
- I had the mission accomplished by 1130 on Saturday! As I was walking through the festival grounds, there was Pete Seeger, right in front of me, checking out the 'doins! How fortuitous! One hot autograhp coming up! So if I had been a dick, I could have just bailed on the...

I was there in 93 for Operation Fuertes Caminos. Where we flew around engineers, officers, and doctors to the various projects they were building ... schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, etc. And a road up to Noriega's sister's mansion. We had Spec Forces guys there too, and Pathfinders. Got so spend a little time out in the little villages... and crossed into Costa Rica accidentally. We'd fly over the mountains to Bocas del Toro. David is the only place I remember getting any leave. It was close, they had free rum ... and there was some beautiful women there. I've always meant to return there, but just havent.

(ack, forgot unit... I was activated and sent there as elements of 135th Avn. Cant remember the unit we were attached to, but the camp was hodgepodge: Seabees, USMC MPs, regular Army, Reservists, Guardsmen (seemed most were from Dakotas).

As for Geezer: am I a Geezer now? I'm not even 33.

That's a fun weekend, no doubt. Funny that you keep getting mistaken for a hippy when we all know you are a bloodthirsty killing machine!

I grew my hair long after my 1st hitch but cropped it when I could no longer stand it sticking to the side of my face whilst ditch digging. I wasn't a pony tail afficianado, so off it went.

- So I'm off to volunteer for the Clearwater Festival this weekend; surrounded by thousands of tree hugging, vegetarian liberals. I'll just have to make the best of it... puke I'm being mercenary, actually, I'm just going, to get Pete Seeger's autogragh, before he goes to the big political-revival-hootenany in the sky.
- Ahh, but there will also be boats there...! wink ARRR!!!

Thanks for your recomendation. Not sure what the budget will allow, but will see. I'm leaving tomorrow for Portland so will be out of touch for a while.

I have only flown the blanca (float) once and didn't get to land it. My favorite so far is the screaming eagle (stearman). now that was fun.

Do you think that embry riddle is worth the price tag? I'm looking to transfer as soon as I have my A&P.

Hey chief! Shout out from a rotorhead (Hueys and Blackhawks).

See you got a nice ship too! ARRR!!! arrr

Spot on, Sir. You were correct - I did like it.
switters:
thanks for the recomendation of the chaps. do you just wear jeans under them, and is that comfortable on long rides on the type of bike I have?

I worked customer/ramp service for the airlines for 7 years, did some construction work, was an environmental/geotech driller for about a year, worked at Big Sky Stearman helping to make wing kits for stearmans and rebuild antique aircraft, then worked for the American Red Cross driving the blood collection busses and being a vampire, now in Tulsa as a student at Spartan to get my A&P, then on to a different school for flight and a bachlors in something.

Nothing near as cool as some of the things you have done.

but yeah, I like to move around and do different things.

My Dad died in '89, and yes, I still miss him. So last night I had this really weird dream...
I was somewhere, I can't recall where, and there's my Dad, sitting on a chair, at a table. It was very strange, one of those absolutely life-like, real-feeling dreams, I thought it was real... So I pinched him, to see if he was real or...

I just needed to say that, its just a feeling which goes with the thought; all of our loved ones that have departed are just sitting in their favorite chair waiting for us to meet them one day....
