Ahhh, but this weekend was fabulous...
- Fri: Went to see Laurie Andersen. I've wanted to see her for many years, but I was never close enough. Hour and a half did it for me this time! Great words, and funny, even better music.
- Sat: Norman Rockwell museum to see eighty years of New Yorker magazine covers. Much of the prose is too liberal for me, but I've always loved the cartoons. Then on to Thousand Acre Swamp in the kayak to fish. Caught me a feesh on the second cast! Then nothing for the next hour and a half... Pretty though, half lake, half swamp, lots of half sumerged stumps, like LOTR! Then a birthday party for my friend and boss. They're lightweights, I use the term "party" loosely. Great tempura though.
- Sun: Breakfast at my favorite local joint. I never lived in small town America, and now I do. Ya just gotta love local joints! Clark Museum for a Winslow Homer exhibit, I love his oils. Stopped at Williams College to see my favorite Gifford painting, but they took it down for another exhibit. Rats! Then on to the Hoosic River for some baby whitewater kayaking, it was a hoot, water up over top of the boat! I had to bring my bike, as a ferry... Drop the kayak at the begining of the run. Drive the car and bike to the end of the run. Drop car at end of run, bicycle eight miles back to the kayak at the begining of the run. Lock up bike, throw boat and self into water for an hour and a half of hydraulicly propelled fun. Throw boat on car, drive to bike, throw bike on top of boat on top of car, drive home. Have a celebratory beverage and revel in the weekend's activities!
- Not too shabby!
