Blog homework: What are your go-to comfort foods when you are sick?

The timing is too perfect for this one - I caught a cold 2 days ago!

I guess it depends what kind of sickness I have. For colds I try to eat foods with lots of vitamins or that are easier to swallow. Clean eating - plenty of veg, some meat, soups are always good but unless I already have some in the house I don't bother cooking it as I'm usually too sore and tired! I follow a keto diet usually so where I used to have kiwi fruit and oranges that are high in vitamin C, I just have my green veggies or some blueberries. Also, the odd teaspoon of honey. :3

If I have an upset tummy I wait the 24-hours and start with a slice of low carb toast with Vegemite and then snack on dark chocolate and banana pieces and try to get my fluids back up.

These are the two main illnesses I guess and both are pretty simple to nurture steadily with good food and water/tea. On keto I don't think I've had a different kind of illness, but before keto if I could eat and was just bed ridden for some reason, I would get cravings for pizza or burgers. And always banana/chocolate. It's a good combo!

What are your top 3 "comfort" foods in general? I always like reading your answers on my blogs.

Thanks for another great topic @missy @rambo and hopefully neither of you are sick! It's summer in Aus and having a cold is just confusing.

God their’s so many with me lol. Any Asian, Italian and BBQ cuisines with me. I’m easily pleased with food. I do my best to have everything in moderation. Ppl sometimes over analysis diets and that. I mix up and not have the same thing all the time. I do drink a lot of water, eat fruit/vegs and have a cheat day. It’s all about balance.

I'm big on soup! I like to make ramen-style, good combo of miso for salt, garlic for anti-microbial action and a heap of chilli to punch me in the face and clear things up ahah. Fresh/raw fruits and veg are always great for sickness too! Hope you're on the up by now :)
