So I went to see Monster last night, and all I can say is if Charlize Theron doesn't win the Academy Award for Best Actress, there's something very, very wrong. She also blows away all of my stereotypes about the ultraglamourous fashion model actresses being just talentless eye candy. She's like a female Robert DeNiro. The transformation she makes to do this movie is just amazing. Check this out:

Okay ... I probably should have put the real her on the left and the movie version on the right. You guys are all such smart asses that I know putting the before on the right and the after on the left is asking for trouble! For the record, the real version of her is wearing the black outfit. Although ... I think the opposite transformation just to do a movie role would be even more impressive.

This is also a classic case of the make-up being there to help the actor get into character. The performance she delivers is so strong that she'd be menacing even if she hadn't done the physical change. That fact that she did what she did, gaining the weight and doing everything else she did to change her look, is the sign of a real pro. It's not often you see a woman this stunningly beautiful willing to get completely fugly to help make a better movie. You won't see Jennifer Anniston doing anything like this.

So yeah ... I'm so blown away I'm speechless! biggrin

Today is a busy Sunday. I have a ton of shit to do. I need to workout, do laundry, and get a ton of billable work completed. I also want to make calls and touch base back east with friends and family.

One of my bad habits is that I put all of this shit off until Sunday, and then if I don't get it all done I become depressed and pissed off at myself. That's gotta change.

Anyway ... this year's big goal ... I want to do an adventure race. I need to get myself in shape, for a 50 mile bike ride in Mexico in April -- and right now I'd die if I had to do 5 miles. The Mexico thing is sort of step one to the big adventure race in October.

I reaaallllly want to go see that movie. I opted to see the Butterfly Effect instead, mistake. I really didn't like it. I thought it was a Donnie Darko copy.
