Another week, another single visit to the internet.
Last night is really all I need to talk about. I had been mourning my lack of tickets to Rilo Kiley's Bottom of the Hill show for weeks, but decided to try to buy tickets at the door anyway. Apparently they were releasing an extremely limited number of tickets at 8:30. I got there at 6:15, and there were already a dozen or so people in line. I had several books in hand, ready to wait it out. Not ten minutes later, Blake Sennet, the guitarist, comes out to say hi to everyone, and gives us all free copies of the new Rilo Kiley cd!
I was indeed able to get into the show, where they had nothing but homemade merchendise for sale. Each shirt was DIY and completely unique. I got one for my roomate. Each of the opening acts (Vagtown 2000, and Mike Bloom of The Elected) had either Jenny Lewis or Blake Sennet (or both) play and sing alongside them at times. They were both mellow, folky, but pretty good. Rilo Kiley themselves were absolutely rad. They played about six new songs, as well as a lot of my favorites (A Better Son/Daughter, Paint's Peeling, With Arms Outstretched, Hail to Whatever You Found..., etc etc.) I'm still giddy like a schoolgirl from the show.
