My grandpa had a stroke last night. It's his second. About 8 years ago he had one and it confined him to a wheelchair and left him unable to speak. This time he is not going to make it, his eyes are fixed and he is unresponsive to everything. The blood clot in his brain will soon burst and kill him. They are not going to hook him up to any life support or anything like that. His time has come and it's good that he will soon be released from his pain. It's not easy to think about without getting emotional but I know it's inevitable. He lived a good life and loved his family above all else. He will live on in our memories.
Peace be with you as you shed this mortal coil.

This afternoon my Grandpa passed away. They had transferred him to a Hospice facility where he spent his final hours surrounded by his sons (my dad) and his wife of over 55 years. It was peaceful and painless.
Thank you all for your good wishes, words, and hugs.

This has been a tough couple of days. My grandpa is the first person in my immediate family to have died. The viewing was difficult and I'm sure that the funeral will be worse. It's hard to imagine how many people one person's death touches. Every good memory of my grandpa is now treasured forever in my mind. I miss you and love you.
(I'll be back to my usual sarcastic self in a few days, but until then, please bare with me. Thank you all again for all the kind words, I'll get back to you soon, I promise)

heres the whole story.
for some reason my grandma was outside raking leaves or something. i didnt know it. i think id just gotten home from work, so i of course went on the computer and stayed there. when my mom pulled in i heard her start yelling. when she parked her car, penny was off her leash and jumping for my mom and lead her to where my grandma was lying on the ground. when i finally realized what was going on i grabbed the phone and my mom called 911. she had a stroke. if id actually been away from this stupid contraption, she may have lived longer...but she died in the hospital like a month later. she never got any better. she always had this blank look with hatred in her eyes. i couldnt even look at her. and thinking about still makes me cry. we didnt get a long the greatest but i remember cooking with her for the holidays and stuff. and doing crafts and she always had these great stories. i miss her...and i never got to tell her i was sorry.
