another beautiful day in San Diego, and im nicely baked to perfectionmiao!!
serpentworship:
Aye. You have to patronize Ken Video, man. They are indeed the finest film shoppe (shoppe!) in all of San Diego-land. They've truly got just about everything, including a slayer of a horror section. I'm a scare film fanatic (big shocker!) and they consistently sate my hunger for horror.

And about the radio, indeed, I never give the shit a listen... with one exception. It's the Swami Sound System, of course, though I haven't listened in quite a long time. And apparently, it's now on Slacker Radio, John (Reis) having quit the 94.9 show early last year.

And so I looked up that movie, "Adventures Of Power", but nobody seems to like it. Are you sure it's not a bad way to spend an hour and a half? Have you seen "Drumline"? That shit is pretty fresh. -- Y

Yo man, sorry for the delay there. Indeed, Meade. Getting annihilated, basically, and I'm not even sure what good they're doing. Not that I would know, but their progress definitely isn't apparent. Whatever. It's kind of exciting, actually. Just seeing how long the power will be able to stay on. Fuck it, if it goes off again, I'll just hit up the home arcade. wink

On 36th eh? You're closer than I am to Kensington then. Love that part of town. Ponce's, the Ken Club, the theater and Ken Video. That last establishment I visit very frequently, as they're easily the best video store in SD. I'm currently waiting for the first season of Rod Serling's Night Gallery to get returned. Whoever's had it out has had it for more than a week, damnit -- charge those fuckers late fees!

I actually only just now heard The Sword's How Heavy This Axe and now I realize why a former bandmate of mine loved them so much -- the lead vocalist sounded just like him! I'm ok with the band, I guess; they're a bit too retro for me, though, kind of like Wolfmother. (Ever heard what Mike Patton had to say about Wolfmother? Funny guy, funny guy.)

I like High On Fire better, and I love the vocal quality of Matt Pike's gravelly yell. He was in alcohol rehab during part of the summer, so you know he's a trooper. I wonder how long he'll stay clean. I hope he won't Winehouse it. Not to worry, I guess; he looks like a tough fucker.

I think I actually like Alexisonfire the least of the bunch though. Coincidentally, the singer from another band I was in was a huge fan of them, but though his voice wasn't really like George Pettit's, the music was incredibly similar. They just remind me too much of like a lesser Of Mice And Men or Amity Affliction, the latter of which I'm already not a huge fan. I will say that I haven't really checked out their lyrics. I'm more a music man than a lyric man, though I do appreciate a great lyricist. (I know you're going to think I'm old, but for me the greatest lyricist is probably Bono.) I have a hard time understanding most singers as it is, however, so even a little screaming makes me lose interest in what the words actually are. Anyway, I thank you for bringing them to my attention -- always good to go back and listen again to something remembered from one's past.

By the way, I get that you're more of a fan of Dallas Green than George Pettit, which is good, because George seems like a bit of a dork... wink -- Y

Great taste in music, man! I dug that Chariot video you linked to, as it reminded me of both High On Fire and The Sword. Familiar?

And I actually haven't seen "You Don't Mess With The Zohan" yet, but I think I'm gonna check it out, now that I know Swardson has a good part in it. Also gonna try to listen to more Alexisonfire and City And Colour..

Great photo!

Hah! Hey man yeah, BTBAM's Silent Circus is definitely a great record. Giant evolution from their first eponymous disc. You can't fuck with Mordecai, of course.

Btw, you not feeling your legs reminds me of this Nick Swardson sketch from Seriously, Who Farted? That guy can be hilarious and I'm seriously looking forward to seeing him in the new Wayans movie A Haunted House.
