It's hard to ignore the Guitar Hero phenomenon. Even non-gamers see the rock game popping up in movies, on YouTube and in any gadget store. It's a simple enough premise that anyone can enjoy it. Just jam along with the notes on the screen to make the pretty music play. Wiggle the whammy bar on long, sustained notes to make funky sounds and tilt the...

The problem with the difficulty ramping up on GH3 was that when you went from one level to the next, you weren't just learning how to use an extra button, you were also experiencing a significant speed bump at the same time. The difference from easy to medium was negligible but from medium to hard was obnoxious. Not to mention by the time you master easy and medium, you don't exactly feel like going back and playing Slow Ride or Barracuda anymore.

I hate to rain on your parade

So don't. Of course, you're not actually raining on our parade anyway, since nobody gives a fuck about what you have to say.

BUT

The dreaded BUT! In capitals!

why don't you people take the time spent learning Guitar Hero whatever and use that time to actually learn to play the real instruments.

Maybe because that actually takes a lot more time than learning to play Guitar Hero?

Do you really think that you're going to really be a 'Rock Hero' by playing this band kareoke game!!!

No. Contrary to what Jack Thompson and Fox News would like you to believe, gamers actually can tell the difference between video games and real life.

What happens when someone hands you a real guitar???

Shit, do people just hand out guitars on street corners? I need to get out more. I'd give it back, because I don't know how to play, and since they're just handing them out on street corners, I probably can't resell it for much.

As always, you all want the percieved glory without any of the work and dedication, but hey, that's the American way.

Umm, actually, we just want to have fun with our friends. Do you have any of those, or has the stench of pompous musician driven them away?

Greta Gerwig made her first appearance in a mumblecore film by phone, sending in voicemails and camera-phone photos to represent her off-screen character in director Joe Swanberg's 2006 dramedy LOL. Since then, the flaxen haired 24-year-old has become the unofficial face of the movement, starring in (and generating lots of press for) Swanberg's well-received 2007 film Hannah Takes the Stairs and this week's Baghead from...

AMC's hit series Mad Men turned the channel into a legitimate network for original programming. Their previous claim to fame was simply showing old films, as their title American Movie Classics indicated. Harkening back to a more "classic" era, Mad Men takes place in the world of 1960s advertising. The smoldering period piece stars Jon Hamm as Don Draper, the top ad man at Sterling...

"That's terrible," Dave Mustaine says to me, his eyes fixed on my sleeveless, inked forearm. "I'm looking at your tat. I get it. A musician broke your heart." Not quite... Well, wait... Yes. One did. I shift in my seat; the Megadeth frontman has just outed me. I resist the urge to move my arm from sight; the tattoo -- a beamed eighth note anchored...

Mustaine is an idol of mine. Not only from the music aspect but the shit he has went through in his life. I can remember when I like 10 trading 3 rap CDs for Megadeths Countdown to Extinction. I wore that albumn out and it completely changed my outlook on music. I thought I would never get to see them play live but low and behold I am seeing them on Nov. 20th in Covington, Ky. I can't wait. I've always been a Megadeth fan and always will be.

i can't wait for harry potter and the deathly hallows.
i can't even wait for hellboy 2!

UGH! HE'S AMAZING!

Agreed. Completely and utterly.

Hellboy was very much like the comic and I loved it. Golden Army definitely felt more like a GDT movie. All I could think was Hellboy meets Pan's Labyrinth.

Which is totally fine, for me. I loved it. Though I didn't think the humour was as good in the second as it was in the first. Not as dry.

I will watch anything with Ron Perlman. I love that man. I just bought a life-size poster of him from Beauty and the Beast. I nearly creamed my pants when I saw it.
