For Ville Valo, life as a musician is very surreal, or very "Dali-esque" as he might say, and he's not referring to the painter's infamous mustache. In some ways Valo is still waiting for the day when he wakes up and finds out it's all been a giant LSD experiment in the Finnish military, where institutional illusions of grandeur and dreamlike oddities smash artistic ambition...

That was possibly the most random, but yet informative, interview I think I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I cannot wait to hear the new material at the Astoria gig later in year, especially to see Midge (aka. the sexy beast) rock out on bass, and attempting to get more people involved in "the monkey mosh" (doing the monkey) during the chorus of Right Here In My Arms.

Hi. Thanks for saying nice things about me to my guy.
In the year leading up to Kurt Cobain's death, the Nirvana frontman sat down with writer Michael Azerrad and told him the story of his life. From December 1992 to March 1993, the two conversed into the early morning hours in the kitchen of Cobain's Lake Washington home, recording over 25 hours of audio tape laden with stories that spanned from Cobain's childhood in Aberdeen,...

Interviewing Tony Kaye by phone can make you sweat, if you're not prepared for what to expect. The famously eccentric director has a noticeable stammer. Earlier in life, it was so crippling that he would pass himself off as a non-English speaker in certain situations to avoid talking, and during an interview he will wrestle to get certain words out and occasionally stop speaking completely...

Queens of the Stone Age frontman and the most rockin' man in showbiz, Josh Homme, had an early morning call with me after a late night of partying to talk about life on the road, midgets, and his new naughty video for the single 3s and 7s that premiered on SuicideGirls,

Italian folklore once told that the only cure for a tarantula spider bite was to dance the most frenzied, inspired dance of your life or you would surely die a result of its hallucinogenic venom. Those bitten danced as if possessed, losing themselves in the feverish mandolin music played by villagers, and so the ritualistic Tarantella dance came to be. Another story suggests the dance...

I saw them in Brisbane a few months ago, amazing live.
Hank Moody eases his convertible sports car onto the long and twisting road that snakes through Hollywood Forever Cemetary, making his way past the ponds, tombs and exotic birds that roam the grounds. A cigarette dangles from his lips and it looks like he might have had one too many drinks the night before and perhaps, just moments ago, kicked some strange woman-child out of...

I have never seen nor heard of this show. Obviously I live under a bridge somewhere.
On another note, it sounds like something I might enjoy.

Never heard of this either. Sounds interesting though. I'll have to check it out.
Before dawn on Sunday May 18, 1980 a 23-year-old Ian Curtis was found dead in his kitchen, having hung himself with a clothesline. His death signaled the end of Joy Division, the post-punk pioneers who later reformed as New Order, and in a way, signaled the end of poetic innocence in the burgeoning Manchester music scene. His wife, Deborah, had his lyrics Love Will Tear...

I cannot wait for this film. The book it's based on is well-written, and all the clips/trailers I've seen of the film are amazing.
Also, remastered editions of Joy Division's catalogue are out in October.

Over the last five years Austin, TX has become the new Seattle. Bands such as And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and Explosions In The Sky have paved the way for hundreds of other local acts trying to break through the obscurity. The Black Angels are well on their way to joining their comrades and becoming a staple in the indie...

I heard them for the first time this year in Bossier City, LA. Really cool, really laid back, and easy to talk with. They did a show with Vietnam and some local band I can't remember. It was the worst hole-in-the-wall venue but really cool atmosphere despite all. And again...the band kicks ass!
craftygrrl:
I've seen them live twice in Seattle. Once opening up for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and about 2 weeks later headlining (with Vietnam). They're fucking brilliant.

Also, NEW JERSEY FOREVER!
Its December 25th 1986, and Nikki Sixx is alone in his mansion, crouched naked under his Christmas tree with a needle in his arm, scribbling in his diary about watching his holiday spirit coagulate in a spoon. He writes, Merry Christmasits just you and me, diary. Welcome to my life.
