A Sunday morning cooking spree
Greetings true believers! I hope today finds all my adoring fans happy and well. I thought I would just put down some stuff to keep you all up to date on the minutiae that is the fabulous life of the Amazing Kartoffel. So among various events that occurred of late, I have returned from my sisters the Amazing Ts birthday! It was an entertaining time and allowed me to share a new drink I had wanted to try called applejack. The original apple jack is made from apple brandy and was popular way back in colonial times and George Washington himself even got the recipe and gave the drink out to the troops during the hard winters. So with such a fine history I thought I would get a hold of some to try and share with others. While Lairds apple jack does indeed include apple brandy, apparently only 35% is apple brandy and the rest is neutral grain alcohol, so thus not quite the experience I had been hoping for. It ended up being much stronger in flavor than I had expected and more of a whiskey in effect and flavor (it was 80 proof). So this year I have on my agenda to make meads in branching out my culinary empire and extend some sections of the secret Kartoffel compound. Now I am looking to make some hard ciders, I had a vague temptation to do some distilling for harder stuff from the mead. Unfortunately while making meads, beers, and wines are legal in the US, moon shining is still not kosher so thus dampening my hopes of distilling some higher octane stuff from the final mead products. Anyway I have plenty of experiments to conduct even without branching into yet another flammable area of research Plus on the other areas of hard liquor to research there are various infusion methods and cordial type liquors I can research as well. Among other things Absinthe kits for infusion are available, although to my understanding this isnt a true absinthe. I am also enjoying the renovations to another portion of the Kartoffel compound that occurred recently. I have made room for my first nuclear powered Kitchen Aid Mixer! It took a while to figure out methods to cool the nuclear pile and prevent any radiation from managing to get into my food mixes. (The last outbreak of Turnip men came from my lack of shielding in the first run of the installation). So now that I have my shielding down I have been enjoying various recipes with a convenient nuclear mixer to get them ready. If you have the space for a nuclear pile at your home I highly recommend them. I will report back later with further experiments involving the mixer. So now on to my mornings breakfast. What you say the amazing Kartoffel eats like the rest of us mere mortals! Astounding! Yes I do indeed eat like all of you adoring fans, mind you I of course have my own flair for doing so So this morning I adapted a recipe from my good friend Wolfgang Puck to make flourless chocolate pancakes. So I had a decadent meal of real chocolate pancakes (non sweetened bakers chocolate) and Turkish coffee. Both turned out nice and rich and thus setting up for a nice start to my day. Now before I go, a game recommendation for all of you adoring fans. If you have not yet tried out Left for Dead by Valve Software I give it my highest recommendations. It is a great game in which you are trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. So for those who have not yet trained for such an eventuality I recommend doing so now to be prepared in case of zombie outbreak. (It also happens to work out well as a Turnip monster apocalypse simulator as well). Well that is all for now True Believers! Excelsior!
