Yay! Tonight I got to meet one of my idols! George Carlin was in town signing copies of his new book. My dad introduced me to George's comedy back when I was small, so it was quite a thrill to meet him. He may have caused a ruckus at the MGM Grand, but tonight he couldn't have been nicer. He shook hands, talked briefly to everyone, and signed whatever he was presented with. I told him about my dad introducing me to his work, and he told me to thank my dad. Very friendly, very nice, and he seemed honestly happy to meet his fans.
In other news, I found out that my dad is going under the knife in a week. Before he goes thru the radiation for his prostate cancer, he's got a couple of polyps in his colon that need to be removed. He said that while they're not a worry right now, they're low enough on his colon that if they do become cancerous, the doctors would have to remove his rectum. YOUCH! Needless to say, I'll be starting up again on the whole prayer thing, just to pray for him.
