There's a lot of meaning to this tattoo design. So much so that I could write a short book on it. I haven't gotten it yet but it's a work in progress.
Generally is my personal path to Enlightenment. Starting at the base of my brain (back of neck) is the first node. There are 7 nodes to enlightment, each with it's own stages and appreciations. Remember this is my personal path.
The node take the path of a spiral (the golden ration phi spiral) and goes from my brain to my heart.
Node 1 - Math.. it's really the first thing you learn. You learn how to count before you can read. Latin translation -- ""Reduction to absurdity" a technique of argument that proves the thesis by showing that its opposite is absurd or logically untenable. This is an oft-used method of proof in mathematics and philosophy. "
Node 2 - Science.. it's the shit. And you learn so much about how stuff works. Latin Translation = Science directs (or reigns)
Node 3 - History... History tells you about the past and directs your life in a way. The symbol is a free mason symbol which is a secret society which has pretty much directed the flow of history. Latin Translation = The history is the tutor of life
Node 4 - Literature... it's the best.. you only really start to appreciate it when you already know everything else. The symbol is a drawing by Franz Fafka. Latin Translation = "List of prohibited books" (because books are dangerous)
Node 5 - Mind.... Philosophy is another thing that's not apreciated till later in life. The symbol is a drawing of a man by Leo da vinci. Latin Translation= i think therefor i am
Node 6 - ???? Maybe love, emotion, people... I dont' know.. i'm not up to that point yet. Latin Translation - Beware of this man. (Because a person who knows what he is and what he wants is a dangerous character)
Node 7 - Enlightenment.. Maybe this coincides with death, or the next level of consciouness. Maybe becoming one with God or a supreme being. The Latin Phase is one that I coined myself and means --- Becoming God through Knowledge.
Oh an those circle the japanese symbol Enso. Which is the Japanese symbol for enlightment. They rotate with the progression of each node to signify that time is progressing.

I have only 2 tattoos and they're tiny. Unfortunately neither of them has any sort of deep story to go behind them, but I still like them. Yours inspires me to look for something that will tell something significant about myself.
