Lost is back, and the season premiere was as good as I had hoped. Not as good as the bleak and oppressive Battlestar Galactica premiere last Friday, but that's like comparing apples to the best fucking show on television. BSG and Barack Obama's presidency(!) are pretty much the only two things that continue to give me faith in humanity. I do love a good, complex time travel narrative though, and this season of Lost looks fun.
I'm probably going to give up on 24 now. There's just nowhere else for the show to go that would keep me interested (I no longer care how deep the conspiracy goes, who the new mole is, what the new increasingly improbable device does) and I'm sick of the liberal foils (evil ACLU guy from a few seasons ago, evil UN guy from Redemption, and now evil Attorney General guy) who bring nothing to the show, other than stand in the way of those who do what needs to be done (this time, it was an FBI agent who felt the need to torture a suspect when he was in the fucking hospital with a gunshot wound and she blocked the door to keep his lawyers from coming in). The show is lazy, repetitive, and has a clear political agenda.
