Rain forecast for the entire week. Already cloudy. The rain has a wonderful, positive influence on my life. I've always liked the rain and it is probably what drew me to my graduate research. My animals come out in the rain, and so must I

It also means I don't have to go to classes or to seminar, because everyone understands that I have to be camping if it's raining. Walking through deep moss and across stream headwaters in downpours.

Water down the mountain
Water down the sky
Water on the tent
All night long
. . . All night long

If it's raining, it is warm
It's when it clears that it gets cold
Keep the rain on coming
and the truth on hold.


I do like the stars though, too. On a crisp, clear night, night hikes are lit enough by starlight. Certainly, a full moon provides enough light. The best of all possble worlds would be to switch to bioluminescent mushrooms. Nocturnal hikes looking for glowy things.
