We were on a street, not a specific one, but a college town. Ann Arbor, probably. But she was there. And we were together, again. And Lord, I haven't been so happy. Not in weeks, not in months probably. It was sweet, and full and passionate and the very definition of beautiful. The very definition. She never looked so perfect to me, her smile never so white and graceful as it was then.
Walking hand in hand, I turned to her, with sudden awareness.
"This is a dream, isn't it?"
"Yes," She said.
"Let's go to a restaurant..." I said. We were in a Restaurant then, probably Outback, which was our place. She still looked so beautiful. And I asked her:
"Can you say anything that would surprise me? Anything I won't know you're going to say?"
"No," She said. "We're a dream now. We're your dream. Do you want it to end?"
"No. I don't..." And she smiled, and I fucking knew it was a dream and I never cared less. You will not know how happy I was, looking at that girl, fake as she was, fake as we were.
And I held her for an hour, and I can could smell her Herbal Essences shampoo. Her skin was soft like it is, her head on my chest heavy like it was. And everything melted away, literally. I melted the world away to rid myself of any distraction. I just held her and held her, and she held me back and loved me and I loved her. Every good memory came cascading back, flooding my dream with laughter, kisses, embraces and every touch we ever shared, it seems.
Beauty and happiness beyond words, beyond any thought or idea. It was just me and the girl I've loved for six years. For one hour, I was me again.
And now...I don't know...
