Die a hero, live long enough... 12 Kilos
“I know it isn’t, Melissa. We’re all members of the same club now in that regard. You need to realize what I will do when I get over that mountain pass and finish walking through those parched lands though. I’m not going to just stand up and call them out and die an honorable death. This won’t be combat. I am going to creep into their shitty, little, sea side hamlets and dump dead animals in their well water. I’m going to walk among them at night wearing the stolen clothes and scalps of their friends and listen to their fire side chats. I’m going to find out what or who they worship and I’m going to desecrate their holy sites. I’m going to drink blood and live off of insects and rats while I pick up their awful, guttural language so I can whisper horrors at them in the dark. I’m going to lay out in the baking sands and the frigid ocean surf and wait for them to peel off alone to answer the call of nature so I can kill them while they shit. I’m going to murder sick people in their beds, I’m going to set fire to huts and cut throats belonging to women and children. I’m going to keep doing all of that, from shitty little village to village until they get smart or lucky and put an end to me.”
“And do you want to know why, Melissa? It’s not because they killed my people, the man who thought of me as a son, the woman I loved, her sisters who fawned over me, who adored me. I’m going to do all of those things and so much more besides because they inconvenienced me. They took away my plans. I’m not naïve, or stupid. I loved Winneh, she never loved me. I would have finished our time together and settled there with my people, valued yes but alone, always alone, as is my fraking birthright. They took away my illusion. They took away my false hope and for that, Melissa, I will murder so many of them that I will finally forget what it is to feel human until they put an end to my plague.”
