I think you're going about this the entirely wrong way. You can't blackmail someone into being your friend. Let's remember the things you've also put him through. You honestly need to grow up about this... I went through a split as well if you recall, and my Ex and I could not be friends for a long, long time. It took three months of purely not speaking to even start building a friendship again. There's a lot of history and hurt to get over. My unsolicited advice: give him space. Let him be. If friendship is meant to happen, it will happen. Don't force it. If I've ever learned ANYTHING from friendships and relationships, you can't force anything.
