Dear Most of Humanity,
Since I was a small child, I've known that you are ignorant, selfish, and closed-minded. Your greediness, and your raping and pillaging of whatever you choose to dishonor, has always left a bad taste in my mouth. I'd hoped that I would be wrong about this as I got older, became self-aware and had some wisdom and experience under my belt..
I wanted to be wrong, really I did, but every time I delve into news about current events here and around the world, I am left feeling depressed. The hatred that is just because, the pettiness because you see the world as a huge "All you can eat buffet", all of it makes me feel anxious and angry. Your disregard for the future of yourselves, your offspring, and everyone and everything around you makes me question when we're going to consume ourselves into extinction. Yes, I'm part of the problem as well, merely by my existence. We live in a time where instant gratification is assumed to be a right, not a privilege, and a thousand mindless products are created just to improve most corporations bottom lines, fat wallets, and even fatter egos, you never question WHY?
Instead, you turn on the tv, turn on your monitor, or whatever whimsical distraction that catches your immediate fancy, and you TUNE OUT. You never question why and how Wal-mart offers you and yours such low prices, you don't flinch as you consume your Big Mac value meal, not ever conceiving that 10 sq. feet or so of rainforest has been cleared away to accommodate unhealthy cows that are treated inhumanely at best. You don't imagine the terror of a bunny as it gets blue sparkly eyeshadow squirted in its eyes until it goes blind. You could never contemplate having to cut back on anything as you pull 7 sheets of paper towel to dry your hands in the restroom. You've no idea that you're "filler people". By that, I mean, you do not ever question status quo, and you keep up with the Joneses because surely the grass must be greener on the other side. If you were only richer, knew more influential people, had a shiny new car, a better _______ fill in the blank, a bigger dick, bigger tits, less fat, etc, that somehow you'd be a person who has finally "made it." Made what?
