Interesting weekend. Blah, blah.
Half day of work on Friday, and hello dumbass. Why, you say?
I'm driving to get some lunch, and my car starts acting kinda funny. I'm on a major thoroughfare, and figure it would be best if I turn the corner. Right I was, because CHUG CHUG, the car comes to a near halt, and steering, et al, locks up.
Phone to call to AAA. Within 5 minutes (I shit you not) this tow truck driver comes to save the day. And he is fuckin' hot. In all due seriousness, and I am not the kind of girl who is easily impressed. I've lived in LA most of my life, and the pretty boys and girls from everywhere else (aren't 90% of the people here from somewhere else?) don't make my head turn. Big whoopteedoo. They are pretty, but in that transient and formulaic way. Good for them.
However, this guy was hot in that manly man sort of way (hell, he is a towtruck driver, after all). When I was younger (gawd, that sounds so icky), I seemed to gravitate toward two types of guys (not consciously, I swear). The first type was the ultra white boy of European descent, blonde, light eyed, interesting face, varying height. And this guy embodied the second type. The brawny sort, tall, dark, and handsome. Sexy Latin accent. Ay, caramba.
Anyway, I had RUN OUT OF GAS. Blah. I wish I could say this was the first time too. He asked me why it seems to be only the ladies that run out of gas. I did my best to explain that at least for me, I'm lazy. My gas gauge is erratic. And let's not forget to mention the gas prices. Oh, and doesn't it seem that every time you need gas, you're dressed up, and don't want to have to brave the catcalls at the station?
So after the gas debacle, I realized that things can work out for the best. I no longer have exactly the same doomsday attitude I would have had in the past. You know, freakout mode because something unexpected happens. So moving right along....
I can be a little less unhappy when I acquire some new MAC cosmetics. They are an unauthorized expenditure, but with this 30 years old business, good concealer and lip pencil seem to be a necessity. As are makeup, lighting, and our good friend Photoshop.
Skunks and whales later on that night in Malibu. Inside joke, but the jist of it is that skunks REALLY seem to like me. They never spray though, they just like to get very close, and are almost tame!
Should I get one as a pet?
So Saturday began with an extra mega strenuous Pilates session. It commenced in a spontaneous photo session with photographer extraordinaire spacepod, and mucho drinking. (I am a lightweight now.) On Sunday, it was difficult to tell if I was hungover, because if you've not done Pilates in awhile, it can feel like you've been hit by a Mack truck. But in a good way, of course.
Sunday was an appearance at the evil monolith known as The Grove. Mall mentality, but upscale, and it was also Father's Day. People were bumping into me left and right with their big and bulging.....shopping bags. Just because something is on sale at Nordstrom's doesn't mean you need it? Then again, what the hell do I know about anything? Pick your poisons, no?
What's your current poison?
