I've realized I need to be positive about as much as I can. I'm excited about my upcoming job opportunity, it's scary, but exciting; I have to believe I can do it. And hey, I get a free trip out of it either way! Issues will pass, and we still need to have fun and relax.
So to set this up, I have to tell you that I'm pretty introverted and don't do things that make myself stand out or attract attention as much as I can. Also, I've been told that I look fairly intimidating. I'm a pretty big guy, I have a full beard, and my beard and the hair on my head are both clipped to under an inch long. I never would do this before, but I thought...why not?
I was on the train leaving the downtown core and I decided to pull out my knitting. I'm making my daughter an adorable stuffed squid with bright blue-green yarn. I did my best to just listen to my music and focus on knitting. I made great progress.
Every time I looked up there were at least half a dozen people staring unabashedly at me, they just looked bewildered. I still keep expecting some kind of harassment, but it was also a lot of fun. I made great progress too!
