Today is a good day for slacking.

I mean, working on my comic, now that I actually have an idea I don't think I'm gonna blow off anytime soon. An unfinished, slightly rough idea, but idea nonetheless.

I can't wait until this hurricane weather stops. Actually, I'm mostly looking forward to this being my last year in this forsaken town.
Don't get me wrong, Scadvannah's a great place, except if:

A) It's hurricane season. Which it is now.
B) It's hot as hell, which it is now.
C) You have to live here for longer than three months.
D) You like having things to do besides your homework. Activities available. Late-night coffee bars.

Basically, if you're a tourist, you're set. If you're retiring...probably. If you're a 4-year college student, not so much. Suffice to say, I burned myself out my first year here. After that, it's been pining for something besides party after party. So tired of parties.

...And they wonder why so many students do nothing but drink and smoke up, or better yet, fall into a Serious Relationship.

Anyway.

There is a fly in our refridgerator that has been there overnight. It hasn't moved. I wonder if it died, or if it's cryogenically frozen or something, but I don't have the nerve to touch it. It makes for an interesting conversation piece.

I submitted my application to SG a while ago, got my first set rejected, my second set is supposedly undergoing...whatever sets undergo if they're apparently accepted. But now that I've had time to look them over again, I shudder. I've got some better ideas. Oh well. Letting that one slide out of my mind for now. surreal

I borrowed some books from my professor over the summer, and he wants me to return a few. Only, one of the books is missing, and my roommate's been borrowing them back and forth, only she said she hasn't taken that one. But...neither have I. I haven't touched or looked through it in a week or so, and we've checked our apartment. No such luck. I hope to god it surfaces, though, because the book's out of print. I checked, because I wanted a copy, and the damned things are going for $50-$100 now. Fuuuuuck.

Queer Eye for the Straight Guy cracks me up. I mean, yes there are arguments I've heard that they're demeaning to the gay community, stereotypes, yadda-yadda, but fuck it. These guys are just being themselves. And they're hilarious. They're so ridiculously witty. I wish they'd come to our apartment and clean up my boyfriend.
Not that he has bad taste in anything, really, and the stuff he's cranked out for product/furniture design is pretty dang amazing, but we all just want new shit for our apartment. wink

I crave udon. Time to cook.

I'm planning on finally starting this famed Discworld series, only I have no clue where to start. Anybody an expert in this series? Do pop a suggestion.

i think if you put a frozen fly in some salt water for a few seconds, there might be a chance of bringing him back to life.

Starting at the start is as good an idea as any. A quick google produced; The Colour of Magic, pub 1983; The Light Fantastic, pub 1986; Equal Rites, pub 1987. All enjoyable as I recall.
