*ahem*

So i'm working this new job right now. I'm a member of a photo production team that shoots catalogs for Restoration Hardware. We're shooting the fall catalog right now. Think chenille throws, heavy drapery with names like "Thai Silk Silver Sage", and lotsandlots of dark woods. Lots of burnished brass and antique silver. Lots of overbearing, overpriced furniture that I would never consider buying even at half the price they're asking.

So who buys this stuff? Who can afford to throw down $7,000 for an eleven-drawer dresser, or $12,000 for a bedframe so huge that you'd need nylon ropes and carabiners just to dismount from it every morning? Well, you could start with the people who own the homes we shoot in every day. I'd heard that houses like these existed in the bay area - I mean, everyone knows that there's serious money here, but I had no idea just how serious it could get 'tillI started working this job. These aren't houses. In some cases the word "mansion" fails to do them justice. Funny thing is that I don't think that any of the homeowners I've dealt with so far would ever bother with any of what Restoration Hardware is selling - the stuff thay they buy is much, much nicer - but they're more than willing to let us pay them $1,500 a day for the use of one or two of their fancy rooms. It's really pretty gross: None of these people we pay really need the money we give them - it's chump-change for them - but the folks who could really use the dough will never get it, because they don't own houses nice enough for us to shoot in. I've heard that old saying, "you gotta have money to make money" a hundred times, but it's never really hit home until now.

So that's what I've been up to. It's a six week gig. Two down, four to go. Long days. Nine to ten hours, usually. It's good money, too - but at this point I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.

I love how your eyes close
Whenever you kiss me
And when I'm away from you
I love how you miss me
I love the way your kiss is always heavenly
But darling most of all
I love how you love me

I love how your heart beats
Whenever I hold you
I love how you think of me
Without being told to
I love the way your touch is always tenderly
But darling most of all
I love how you love me

I love how your eyes close
Each time that you kiss me
And when I'm away from you
I love how you miss me
I love the way your kiss is always heavenly
But darling most of all
I love how you love me
