I've been a member since December 2005 so it's about bloody time I made a journal entry.
Thinking regular journal entries will be a good way to order my thoughts, I'm going to try and write a few days a week. My mind works so fast that significant ideas and feelings are sometimes run over and lost. Actually mentioned that today in a chat after giving my friend a compliment (she doesn't take compliments well, says she doesn't know what to say); my point was too often we say anything just to fill the silence, or to move along, missing the insight that lies beneath our facades.
As for me, reading what I have down on my regular profile and dating profile give a good idea of who I am. Like most folks, I can be quite complex and a bit of a conundrum. Don't mean to be, it's just I've done a lot in my life, travelled, known all sorts of people from all walks of life and in all age groups; all that experience has made me who I am.
Enough of the deep stuff for now. The ulterior motive for writing this entry is that someone will read it and say "hey, he's cool, I'd like to know him." I worked many years in advertising and marketing (for The Man) before burning out and making a career change. I do some freelance, studied massage therapy, and sell stuff on ebay. While I enjoy being my own boss, I miss the comraderie of colleagues, of going out after work for a drink, of talking about what we've been doing. Confession: I'm lonely. My super cool dog is great company but not the greatest conversationalist.
Other ulterior motive: hoping a woman reads this stuff and decides she wants to meet me and see what happens. Yes, I need some more friends, but I'd LOVE a friend with benefits. So there, I said it.
If you've read this far, I thank you! Feel free to comment, drop me a line, whatever. I'll answer everyone who writes.
I leave you with one of my favorite quotes:
There is nothing better than the encouragement of a good friend. -Katharine Butler Hathaway
