When things are desperate, there is no need to pretend that everything is beautiful. You have to accept reality. This has helped me come closer to reality.

"In autumn, one leaf falls, then another, then all the beautiful flowers die until we are surrounded by bare naked plants. We do not feel so joyful. Why is this? Because deep down, we desire constructive, fruitful growth and dislike things collapsing, dying, or being destroyed."

Another job well done. This last project has been my best yet. I didn't get pissed off once. I got along with everyone one on our crew. I got 7 of the 14 guys hired on. 5 of which hadn't worked in a couple of months. What a great feeling it is to be able to be helpful, productive, and an asset to the team....

Change, it's inevitable. I used to think it was bad. It can be when you resist. I have made so many changes recently, all for the better. Most people might say they don't like change, but nothing remains the same. I am really enjoying the changes in my life. smile

Day 272: Went for a nice walk up Mt Rubidoux this morning. The whole family including the dog. Great view, it's nice to see things from a different perspective. And a great way to start the day.

That is a great way to start the weekend. I'm not going to make the retreat because My wife and I have a cruise planned right around that time. If you go let me know how it is. Do you have any friends in recovery who are into Buddhism/meditation? if so to you meditate together?

I started back going on 4 weeks ago ... working on a job in Dublin next to a federal prison. I think it is called the Santa Rita. Something like that but there is both a minimum and maximum security there.

it's inherent in us to strive for success. what is success and what are we willing to pay for it?

Success is having, "he made things better, glad he was here",
on your tombstone. It's not driving a Lexus. biggrin
oldsarge:
Not me pal, I want to be cremated, ashes strewn in the River Shannon in Ireland. I drive a Saturn, so does Mrs.Oldsarge. smile
