I took my Christmas tree down and the rest of the lights on my windows. I love to put lights up during the season - since it could be seen from far away, I love the effect. The trees from the park across my house are leafless and bare thus the twinkle of the colored lights is seen a couple blocks away. I like that. I also like to say to myself, thats my window I see, knowing my cat Sam; who is still alive contrary to medical experts opinion, he will be waiting on the window sill for my arrival. Such simple pleasures, such unpretentious satisfaction can influence the end of my day; the little things always make me the happiest. Yet it is sad to see the season come to an end and come to a close. Yes, Christmas is over, Three Kings day is over, St. Sebastian Week and Epiphany Celebration is over and now we can stop saying happy New Year and happy holidays. It is time to get back to reality, back to the real world, back to deal with the self and the inner person and solve some real issues and get into serious history making activities.
We are facing some real issues my comrades, brothers and sisters. Some very serious issues need our attention focus and action in the next 12 months. There will be various international meetings and conferences where world leaders will be making decisions, creating policies, developing treaties and trade agreements that will shape the decades to come. Many key and influential countries will be selecting, electing and appointing new leaders that will shape our hemisphere, borders, and establish new political alliances. Many of the present leadership will feel threatened, and reject the new, deny the need for change, suppress the desire for progress and protect the present.
Technology has moved beyond the borders of the developing countries. Wireless and satellite communications has enabled the most remote places on earth access to visual transmissions. International trade has placed equipment and awareness in the hands of the populous, the poor and the non-participants in society with lots of time on their hands. This will and has produced reaction; protest and questioning of the way things function and operate. This has been developing and we are now witnessing small countries electing leadership that speaks for those who call for total participation and creating their own history. How will the status quo react to this new wave of leadership and control? We stand the risk of polarizing and moving toward extremes which is always the cause of confrontation and conflict. What we term the left and the right will reaffirm their views, ideas and philosophies and develop false truths, propaganda and continue to remove basic freedoms for the sake of security and protection from the other extreme. There is a window of opportunity were we can anticipate and avoid major conflicts but we must have a call to action.
I am reminded of a wise gifted man who roamed this planet for three years some 2000 years ago and left us with some challenges and examples of how to bring about change. One of my favorite quotes goes something like this New wine cannot survive in old wine skins for it shall burst and all will be lostNew wine must be in new wine skins for only then will it keep its worth and value. El Che, once spoke at the UN and said; when the voices of the non participants are herd, and they realize how the past has created the present conditions, they become their own history makers and bring change that no external force can reckon with. Remember the words of your prophets and you shall live a long prosperous life. As I enter into my second year as an SG member I want to thank all my friends on SG for making this site a great place to be. Become a history maker create change this year. Keep the Revolution Moving Forward. Un Abrazo.. MUAH !!!!!!!!!!!
