It's probably safe to say that this country will never rally behind a conservative party. Case in point: the Liberal party, that's been in power the entire time I've been of voting age, has been punished for scandalous misdeeds committed over the duration of their reign by being made the opposition to the Conservative Party's minority government.
Let's see you spin that, Mr Harper. The party you've characterized as evil incarnate got slightly fewer votes than your party. And the little party you counted out entirely won enough seats to form a coalition with them to rule the house. Maybe that won't happen, but it does put the victory of the Conservative Party of Canada in perspective. They're deluded if they take it as anything but a chance in the big chair while the Libs are sent to the corner to think about what they've done.
