Ok so this is a Political Rant.......

So depressing..puke but is it really??
My question is what are we going to do NOW to promote awareness and educate the people ( especially the Youth) about what we can do as citizens to make decisions and promote policies that we believe in. It can not be all about what happens one fateful day in early November (as we can clearly see )to cast the die and see what happens.. It has to be an overall result of activity that gets us back on track. We need to look at who we are being that can promote this kind of activity. We are ALL responsible. Who did we talk to? Who did we reach out to? Did we learn as much as we could? Did we ask enough questions? Did we reach out to people? Did we encourage people and have a conversation about the important issues that affect us individually?
I want to OWN the results and step into the responsibility and not feel hopeless or mournful. That is the only way to make it be any different. I am up for the challenge even though I am not sure yet what it looks like.
It will probably take all these 4 years to make a difference.
I for one do not want to sit back and bank on the Republicans making a big enough mess that people will wake up and change their minds to create something that I belive in.
Yogi Bhajan (RIP) was always saying "Keep Up" and this has never been more poignant.
Lets do that!
What can you do?
What can I do?
What can we do together?
Lets find ways to make our voices heard, to step into an empowered way of living, and empowered way of communicating, an empowered way of expressing whats important to each of us. Use the Mourning energy that I see as so prevalent and harness it to give you fuel to be the difference somewhere in you life, in your community, in your family, in your place of work. I know I am so afraid of talking politics with people so that I am not judged or alienated. What's that all about? maybe I could learn something. Maybe they could learn something as well. There were young fashion interns at my new job who didnt even know that there was more than the president on the ballot as they prepared to go and vote on Tuesday. I was the first person to ask some of these young women about their voting.
But did I know about all the people on the ballot and what they stood for? Hell No!
The question is who would I have to be to BE the difference?
Who would we have to be to BE the difference?
What can we do now?
I dont know personally but would love to have a dialogue that is forward moving, that can be inspired by the cup being half full, that can stand up and be heard and not just wait like sitting ducks for someone else to force feed me the results of an election for someone that I am opposed to in so many ways. It is an accumulation not one event.
As a woman and as a citizen I want to ask that we we look at ourselves and see what we can do in whatever small way.
The margin proves to me that if we all dig a little deeper (not even that much) we can make the difference.
What will that look like? eeek
