Hey! The autumnal equinox day! A toast to day and night is in order.
maike:
Best wishes for a Happy Birthday! Althought that embarrassingly sounds like a discount Hallmark card, the sentiment is in there somewhere.

At least 10 times before I left I reminded myself of the importance of 7-11, and then I completely missed it in the blur of days. No excuse, and I'm irritated at myself. No cake this year, but I still wanted to send my wishes, and that my thoughts were with you. Hope you had a good day, with confetti.

Hi. Just walking past the neighborhood.

Finally went for a great ride on Sunday
Then my old bike died in a part of Brooklyn I have never been.
Kind of fun to be stuck out there.
Got to meet this old italian guy and hear about his riding experience which started at age 38 when he got a divorce and a new lease on life.
Glad I didnt have to wait...

I hope you have a nice holiday, and maybe spare a turkey?

Inventing/creating one would be nice. Let me know how that works out, since my last invention (costing thousands) ultimately told me to stop deluding myself. Cheeky.
maike:
The bike is spotless! Whenever I see rims that clean, I know the owner really cares, and your hard work shows. Very nice. I'm glad you made it to PT to see your family. That's a nice ride from NY to the cape, and I hope you were not too cold.

It was not a good week at work for me. A project that I have been working on for a year has caused many nights with little sleep recently. For thanksgiving, I chose to do nothing except try to refocus. I ate popcorn, played lots of music, and briefly forgot about the world. I'd like that kind of holiday at least once a week, it seems.

Loss and Life

All is fleeting
and yet looms large in the headlights
of what seems like too long
captured for unending moments
whichever we choose to replay the most.
Whichever seem to serve
what we want to hang on to.

My sisters boyfriend left this planet
of his own accord last week.
He leaves her confused
sad and lonely.
He leaves me knowing even...

I am sorry for your sister's loss - I hope that you are able to be there for her as she sorts things out (while you also address your emotions on the loss).

There is very little that can be said - all I can do is listen and hope you realize that I have been touched by your sharing of this profound loss. I am not sure that there are any real answers or explanations.

I understand a little what dispair and depression can do to someone - how it can drag one down to depths that most people cannot imagine. I have never been so low as to actually want to leaveis world - I can only imagine the dep of the pain.

My thoughs and prayers are with you and your sister. May you both find peace.

hugs

I'm leaving for China today, and just wanted to send along best wishes.

All my friends here know I've been vegetarian for a long time, so they actually watch out for me everywhere we go. They quickly taste dishes that look like they might have meat or fish when they're put on the serving glass, then pronounce if I can eat it. Sometimes they apologize to me when a whole fish is brought to the table (usually still moving). Even when I eat with strangers who order meat / fish dishes first, as soon as they are told (by my friends, not me) that I'm veg, the good dishes start flying out of the kitchen. It is soooo good to eat here. Restaurants generally have 10-15 vegetable dishes and 3 or 4 types of dofu, so I always have a much better selection, all fresh, than at any US place. There are usually some 100% vegetarian restaurants in each city, and their specialty is soy based "meats" that are really good. The old ways have not been lost here, and I'm always comfortable and never hungry.

It's a beautiful cloudless day here in Beijing, temperature perfect, so I'm going for a long walk through the back streets of the city before dinner.

Have pride, and courage, because it will become a rewarding path.
Do not forget to send in the checks!! It's that whole compounding of interest thing.
Definitely watch that film again, and I will too.
The middle road implies balance.
"...dipping into the addiction of separation..." will be my next tattoo.
All your words are positive and aware, and I did smile. A happy smile for you.
Today is too hot to think, but not hot enough to melt.
That self-loving part is really important.
Look for the lily petals covering the ground everywhere you walk tomorrow.
