I started a novel last night. I've had the idea for years and it reached critical mass. Started at 2:30 am and got 700 words, they're coming pretty easily. But my writing is totally tailored to short stories, because I try to use as few words as possible. A normal writer could probably have dragged out what I wrote to 2500 words or something. Oh well. I probably won't finish it anyways. But it's different from what I normally do, so it'll be good practice at least.

I think short stories would fit me better these days, as well, because I have so many thoughts fleeting past my mind that it's hard to drag one out for a long period..
Good luck with this, and I hope it's a successful attempt.
