I cleaned out the friend file, because after reading about this cool-sounding camping trip, they said they reserved the right to refuse to admit any "girl collectors" along with some other apparently heinous individuals.
Now, not that I really want to go, because I probably wouldn't anyway, but it got me thinking along the lines of my friend list.
When I first joined here, I...

Have you ever been offered a job that pays a SHITLOAD of money, but you didn't really want it?
I'm in that kind of situation at the moment.
I suppose it's sort of a nice position to be in. But principle matters, and I'm not sure if mine match with the position being waived under my nose.
bleh.
Nothing like an inky update like that,...

I expected some corn, ya know... I mean they had 3 different movie monsters in one movie... That's got crap written all over it. Why no Mummy? Just get everybody involved. It was sooooo made for teenagers.... like most movies nowadays.
They did actually have gunpowder then. The Eiffel Tower was going up. I forget what year that was built, but it was Victorian times. They had dynamite and guns and cannons. But... still the technology was a bit far-fetched. All the high voltage was a bit over-the-top. But then, it WAS sci-fi. What bothered me was that a woman of that era that was liberated enough to wear pants wouldn't wear a corset and heels. "I can't breathe or run, but I have free leg movement!" And the photos in the movie looked modern. They had the colour right, but the quality and setting were totally off. I can take the outlandish sci-fi stuff if they get the little details right, but they didn't try on any of it. But... most teenagers won't recognize that stuff. I would've, but I was a geek... still am. Like, The Time Machine. They got all the little stuff right, so the time machine concept was more believable. I detest bad movies. And a movie set in Victorian times has to be REALLY BAD before I will hate it.

Ok, new update ... the last one about the smelly guy lasted maybe 10 minutes.
I had a much better moment listening to the Cranberries.
Seems like yesterday, we were sixteen
We were the rebels of the rebel scene
We wore Doc Martens in the sun
Drinking vintage cider, having fun

Thanks for the comment.... I'm not always a jerk, I swear.
I've had a lot of fun here.
So far I've made a few fun acquaintances, and maybe even might get over being quite so shy online, and go to one of the events ...
Anyway, I wanted to thank all the folks who have been commenting, mostly, I'd guess, in response to my complete and utter sillyness and class clown demeanor.

Well, I have reentered the workforce to little or no apparent effect.
I had to take an unscheduled day off to get the car repaired after the trek to the alma mater.
About $750 later, I have my car back, and it's got not only a new exhaust, but new brakes and a mouse nest cleaned out of the air conditioner.
I suppose I better...

oh no
i hope you get some time off soon
Go check out Dylan's set now!
She and I emailed a bit about an idea I had for a set, and she's just a blast, and very friendly.
Now that her set is up, she'll be all famous and stuff, but she's officially fun.
Plus, I get to put her in my favorites now.
Good for her.

Oatmeal with walnuts and a half teaspoon of brown sugar.
You can have some. Trader Joe's has some really good brands.

Ever have real, actual deja vu?
I did today. I went to visited the college I graduated from, to volunteer in a mentoring program with a student.
When I went to leave, after visiting some of the old landmarks, and feeding a squirrel by hand, my stupid exhaust pipe broke, and was scraping the road.

Wow... that is crazy!!!
Well, I liked that last update way too much, but I don't try creative writing that often, and I thought it didn't suck too bad, so I left it up there.
Anyway. I have been reading Pattern Recognition again, and I'm wondering if any of you have suggestions for the next book.
I have a nice used bookseller near me, and I'd like to do...

I won't tell your motives. I'm sure there are children watching via some pervert's laptop in a library.
As for a book, this may be miles off from Gibson, but "America: The Book" had me laughing my ass off. I finished it in three days. It's that awesome.

Ani DiFranko and a mood came together with occurance and sunshine today ...
I would offer you my pulse. I would give you my breath. I would offer you my pulse, I would give you my breath
That's so much oblivion of the self, that I find it shocking.
But I think we've all been there, for a moment, at least.
I'm sure it's not...

I have no moments of perfection. Thanks for the journal comment. WOW you live far away.
I'm feeling good today, because normally my job brings me cheek to jowl with the lowest elements of society -- criminals and politicians.
But I think what I've done over the past week may actually do something to help people who really can't help themselves, and I'm feeling good about that.
Since I'm such an idiot oabout privacy on the internet, I won't spell it...
