These same people believe in the death penalty, have no problems denying what they used to claim were universal rights to immigrants and tourists -- they have no problem sending young people to die in Iraq, and ... they pass a law for one person.
To say this was not primarially motivated to please the Religous Right is like saying these people are principled. It's complete and utter bullshit.
I thought the Republicans were for states' rights, lesser government, and stuff like that. Heh. Yeah, right.
