I bought Anthony Bourdains Bobby Gold Stories and read it all that day. Didn't savor it. Just gulped it down like a pint of Ben and Jerry's. Been staring at it for two days wishing there was more, so I gave it to a friend today who is also a Bourdain fan who's cat just died to hopefully cheer her up. Got my ass put into the weeds hard at work tonight, I hate that on my Monday. I was lulled into a sense of well being by how slow it started out and got hammered on saute dishes, Nobody died, everybody got fed. It was a good night.
cocinero:
Same thing happened to me Monday night on broiler. Lots of big tables for some bizaare reason. The guy that taught me everything I know about how to run a kitchen came in with his wife and kid and I never got a break in the action to talk to them. Nobody died here, either, though (although I'm pretty sure one whiny waiter never knew how close he came to buying it).
