Hydro's been warning people three days in a row to conserve envergy or there's going to be a blackout. After being caught flatfooted in 2003, I'm off to buy supplies. I'm betting by the end of the weekend.
I don't know. Do you think holiday weekends use more energy or less? The huge office buildings won't be occupied but often they run a bit of climate control anyway. And if everybody who normally goes to work stays home, has A/C and runs it, then yes there will be a blowout. On the other hand, people will leave the city for holidays, cutting back on their use, but others will arrive.
At any rate, I'm gonna go get cash from the bank, buy a flashlight, stock up on food and fill a lot of waterbottles.

Meanwhile, if the power company's been telling people they need to conserve power, it's a pretty safe bet that most people won't. So the question, really, is how desperate are the power company? Are they saying covserve power because their projections versues output is right on the line and they could easily go over? Or are they just saying it and figuring if anyone actually does it's a small bonus to them? Can any man rightly say?
