So I wussed out of auditioning for Lord of the Rings. I took the day off work and everything, but the picture I wanted to use as my submission with my resume wouldn't print, and I started thinking 'you have no chance', 'you have no real acting experience or training', 'you can't sing and they might make you', and 'you have none of the acrobatic skills they will require'. so rather than stand around in a big hall all day waiting to be told all this, I just figured to skip it. Now I have the whole day off, though.

The answer to last journal's triva question was Pope (H)adrian VI. He was from the Netherlands. Sorcha knew.
Apparently, the short list of potential popes includes the archbishop of Quebec City. It would be really weird to have a Canadian pope. I think a lot of people would start saying he would be the most important Canadian ever (were he to become Pope), but everyone knows that Lester B. Pearson is really the most important Canadian ever, internationally speaking (maybe Trudeau domestically, though). Boy that last sentence was long.

TTC strike for Monday!! The union says they won't start re-negotiating, but if management comes up with a real offer I couldn't see them not come back to the table. I already took some work home so I don't have to go in for Monday. After that, I'm thinking I might start trying to ride my bike. However, that would take me from the middle of the city to the very east end (right downtown to Northern Scarborough). It might not be feasible.

hey, nice to meet you and thanks for the welcome!
not being canadian, i'm sometimes reluctant to mouth off to conservative assholes like polarpat. i really appreciate you guys letting me butt in now and then... i'm a sociologist and i've been studying comparative US/Canadian politics for a few years now. It's absolutely fascinating and makes me want to emigrate terribly.
