Yesterday's journal was the chorus from the song 'old emotions' by the Spoons. I always thought that they were a big famous international band along the line of Bryan Adams or the Thomson Twins, but I guess they were just a local phenomenon (maybe not even that. the two people who answered could not place the song and were both from southern Ontario). I think it came out in, like 1982, before there was even a cable muchmusic (Canadian MTV).

On the other hand, my second day of undergrad, 1993 at the University of Toronto. My new next door neighbour and I walked into the Bloor & Yonge subway station (where the video for their biggest hit was filmed. I'm sure that it was ubiquitous at one time. I was like seven years old and I remember it). I started humming 'do do do do do do do do, do do do do do-do-do-do, rooooomantic traffic'. And my neighbour remembered it perfectly.

Other spoons 'hits' included arias & symphonies, nova heart, tell no lies, and (of course) Romantic Traffic.
