My roommates were gone for the holiday and I took the occasion to rent some movies i would've been too embarrassed to watch when they were around - ella enchanted, eurotrip, mean girls and 13 going on 30
Hey, I likes what I likes.

Eurotrip had a really good first 20 minutes but then was too sophmoric and silly (of course, what was I expecting). The running gag of the 'Scotty doesn't know' song was really funny.

Ella Enchanted was not bad. I really like Anne Hathaway (I saw the Princes Diaries because I will see anything with Julie Andrews, and I was really impressed with the star). She plays 'adorable' really well.

13 going on 30 had its moments if you like that kind of stuff.

But my favourite was Mean Girls. It was fairly funny (a lot better than SNL. I mean, if I had a TV show that had been sucking for 10-odd years and the head writer went and made a movie that was funny, I'd be really mad and consider firing her). Of course, it didn't hurt that it was obviously filmed all over Toronto.

I am going to start telling people that I live two blocks North of the church in
My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and two blocks south of the Mathlete competition in Mean Girls.

Which brings me to my next point. I think movie ratings are stupid. Mean Girls has a PG-13 rating due in part to 'teen partying'. Yeeesh. And the film "Team America", has an R rating with the explanation "graphic, crude and sexual humour, violent images and strong language all involving puppets."

Puppets? gasp!!

But the worst ever has to be the R rating for the Breakfast Club. Yes, they swear and smoke pot. But that isn't unrealistic for the suburban teen. What it ends up is that the film that every high-school student should see ends up being technically unviewable by high school students.

Damn you, Motion Picture Association of America!!

My mind boggles at film ratings.
Here in the UK we used to have U, PG, 15 and 18, that was it.
It was nice and easy, simple but effective, then they start messing about with 12's and putting letters (which no one has a clue what they mean) on then end of the original ones.

I have no idea what an 'R' rating is but I'm guessing it's adults (or late teens) only?

The breakfast club is a kids film! (ok it's one of my favourites blush but still)..

Puppets? I'm not even going to begin thinking about that one~I'll get brain ache biggrin
