rommate finding blues.

About two weeks ago my roommate (the one on the lease) said he wanted to move out. Now we live right across the street from a major university and rent is decent so there shouldn't be a problem, right?! Not when roommate waits ten days to put ad in university housing centre (he's the only one who could've done it for free, as he's the only student). And not when roommate hasn't cleaned room since he had a girlfriend two years, ago, and isn't about to start now (I've made the rest of the house presentable, but not his actual bedroom, the one we have to rent. It is actually scaring potential roommates, even though they understand on an intellectual level that all the stuff will be gone when they move in. The other roommate was very helpful by coming home every evening and saying "wow! the place looks great! Leave (task x) for me, so that I can help", and then playing new political simulation on computer for two days rather than completing task x. Still, I like both my roommates a lot (I've only had one fight with one of them before, and I was in the wrong).

And as I've said before, it's a real renters/buyers market out there. I hope we can get it rented while the students are still looking. Granted, it's only been a few days since the ad went up, but he's moving home, so he must have known for a while, and all of this could've started when we had months to find someone. I keep telling myself it could be worse, he could've decided to leave in like, November.

I think the solution is going to have to be that I clean up my own room really well, rent out that one, and move into my old roommates room. In fact, I have noticed that his room is a little bigger than mine...
