i got my camera back, and soon I will post Hallowe'en pictures of me. Until I get them sized, I will relate this little story. I was at my friends Hallowe'en party (no longer in costume), and two of the guests had brought their little child of about five or six years. At the beginning of the party she was very shy and would try to hide her face in her mommy's pant leg when her parents tried to introduce her to anyone. But later I think she was given some cola or chocolate, and she was much more outgoing. We had this conversation:

Dholokhov: why hello there!

Little Girl: Hi! My name's Angela!

Dholokhov: i remember! we were introduced earlier, but I think you were trying to hide behind your mother. I must say, you seem more friendly now.

Girl: Well I was scared before. Sometimes that happens to me.

Dholokhov:: that's very understandable. I can be quite frightening.

Girl: You aren't scary! I was just scared!

Dholokhov:: oh yeah? *waves arms and makes growly sounds in frightening manner* see?!

Girl: That's not scary!

Dholokhov:: Is so!

Girl: Is not!

Dholokhov:: So!

Girl: Not!

Dholokhov:: So!

Girl Not!

Dholokhov:: young lady, I am quite a bit older than you, and may I say, I know quite a bit about what is scary. I am very scary!

Girl Not!

A few seconds later, I admit I was tricked into admitting that I was "not scary" through her clever juxtaposition of Nots and Sos. Kids are getting more wily all the time.

Uh, Yorkshire accents. The trees live in East Yorkshire. So it wouldn't be, like, the cut glass single-sex grammar school thing.
