So i've been trying to get things started on my '28 model-a again. haven't driven her in a week as i've needed a smoother ride and one that is more traffic friendly, an 84 year old car with no rear shocks and a stick shift SUCKS when stuck in traffic...
But between school, work, doctor appointments for my wife, and at some point needing to sleep I haven't been able to get any work done on the beast. so today I started mocking up where to mount my ooga horn and the rear shocks. The shocks I bought are a little too long, but were $50 less per shock than the ones i should have gotten. And, since I believe the true spirit of hot rods is in the ingenuity of working with what you have/can afford I welcome the challenge.
The ooga horn, which i'm really excited about, was only $11 at harbor freight (thanks china) and is an out-of-place fire engine red. So I primed the horn and painted it black. I'm going to mount it to the frame by bolting it through an existing hole where the some of the stock steering components used to mount. so on the inside of the frame between it and the oil pan. since there are no fenders, or hood i'm hoping it won't get too hot and melt the plastic. I need to go pick up a button and a relay tomorrow.
(see attached photo for horn placement)
But first tomorrow I'm marching in a parade with my wife and daughter for my daughter's elementary school, she's very excited. We live in a small city in San Diego county and tomorrow is our annual "we live here" parade. I usually avoid it, but as I said my daughter is REALLY excited to be in it and I am a big marshmallow when she is this into something (i've been in a lot of tea parties).
After that we will probably hang out and continue to work on my car, she likes to help, while my wife catches up on her lady perv book (50 shades on bondage or whatever).
as for tonight, we're watching walking dead, then i'm going to a friend's welcome-home-from-norcal party.
