Oh it's way too early to be awake on a Saturday... but the kitten likes his bowl to be full, thankyouverymuch. Enough is not a feast for Oni Cheeto. Now he's eaten, and he's trying to stuff his purring self under the cushion behind me, his idea of a snuggle? Oh Yawn!
Now, I have a whole glorious week off! How to begin? By going...

That is a great journal entry. I really have nothing else to say.

It's not raining, drizzling, misting or foggy. The sun is out! I've planted ranunculus, poppies (three varieties), sweetpeas and crocuses. Bulbs were half price cause it's way past their planting time, but they'll be ok. If they don't bloom this year they'll kick butt next year.

Time marches on.
Friends have moved, broken up, thrown each other into rehab. I'm hiding at home reading true crime and playing CDs. I should spin some records, I should write something. It's grey and that's what I know today.

id have to be on fire then. And to just fade away into nothing seems more. Well, easy.

I realize this entry is a few days old now, but try spinning the new Robert Wyatt record, 'cuckooland'.(based on your 'favorite bands' list, I'm pretty sure you know about Robert Wyatt.) It's great in the way only he can be
Solstice party today!
Yeah, I know the solstice isn't actually today, but I can start celebrating the return of the longer days of light. Heh, most of my friends can't do a sunday party, but I am now off work for the holidays! Yip!
I'm going to attempt to make smoked pork. I made a smoker using big ol flowerpots, the pork has been in...

shit you're making smoked pork? I've been dying, simply dying, to make some smoked brisquet. I'll send you the recipe once I'm back home.. at least I'm out of the woods anyways.
d_infinite:
Good luck with that.
Happy Solstice right back at ya.

So yesterday, I'm walking down the hall and two boys are approaching me, talking to each other. We're talking seventh graders here. Just as they pass me, one turns to the other and says,
"So, do you think you could shoot a monkey?"
??boggle??

That's a very important question. You should ask yourself that question every day. Except Sundays.

ummm...that is pretty random. I'm not a huge monkey fan, but I don't think I could shoot one.
Why would seventh graders be talking about shooting monkeys? What are they learning in biology?!

Good Morning!
It's stopped raining and the sky is a clear crisp blue. The coffee is good, thank the gods they had decent coffee at BevMo, I did not want to wake up to none in the house.
Spent yesterday helping my friend hang her photos for today's open studios event on her block.
Take a look at her work. I love the color infared...

Coffee = Good.
The photography is very nice. Tell your friend she does good work and good luck with the showing.

Nice pics your friend has. Makes me what to break out the old 35 mm and dust it off.
Just what is Gnarleywine, though- something my surf buddies would drink?

I don't want to give away your real identity on here or anything, but you're a musician aren't you? Your sig. name + your gender & age + that your in my (well it hasn't officially been switched over to mine yet) Experimental Music group + my intuition make me think this is so.
If I'm wrong.. I apologize.
If I'm right.. I was at your last Victoria BC show.. one of the best music shows in my life. I was the guy who had to run out to the bank to get money to buy your cd. I'd just finished reading "If On Winter's Night A Traveller" and you're a fan of Invisible Cities? If you're who I think I play your stuff on my show quite often.
Drop me a line either way, I'd be interested in chatting about music with ya.

I think, or thought, or are unsure.. but I thought you were (are?) Amy Denio.. founder of the Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet, collaborater with Francisco Lopez, have played with Curlew, and have some great solo releases as well.
Your sig. name is the same last name, you're the right gender and age, you're interested in experimental music, and your fantasy seems to hint at Calvino's "Invisible Cities" which Amy Denio wrote a opera thingy about and performed with Die Knodel.
Anyways.. music chatting is good.. You're also a fan of Remedios Varo and Henry Darger! (I've only seen one other member with a Varo interest.. and nobody with Darger) I have that massive and expensive hardcover volume of Darger's work. There's only one book on Varo (in English anyways).. but I must get that too.

Bill is my cat. He's a big black Burmese, picked me out at the pound by reaching his long paw out of the cage and tapping me on the arm while politely meowing.
Bill has done this twice now, in the past month. I've been having a run of nightmares. Last night while I was in the depths of one, he woke me up by...

we got all the cats I had as a kid at the humane society (that means the pound right?) except the first and second ones- the first cat adopted us by showing up on the doorstep hiding from a big buly cat. After she adopted us she had kittens, since she was now so comfortable and warm, and one out of three we kept, and that was cat number two.
I would have a cat again if I could, but now that I'm out of the habbit of living with one my allergies just go buckwild whenever I touch a cat.
Cats seem to know that I can't touch them, and therefor come over and do their best to get in my lap. THen I pet them, then I get teary eyes, mild itchy hives, and asthma.
oops.
your cat sounds like one of those truly awesome cats.

awww. I want your cat!! Mine are lovely, but they rarely let you hold them. The nude vinyl thing is a book full of record artwork with naked chicks on it - much better than the usual shite I get bought from the so-called "friends" in my band
Almost December....
where does the time go?
I applied for the new job. I'll have to quit the old one, break a contract, if I take the new one. Can't know til I try. Work is work is work, but doing one job would be better'n doing two at once, it's been just too much.
I slept til 1:15 yesterday, then lazed about playing records...

Well it sounds to me like you are taking life by the balls and showing them who's boss. But then again I know nothing about you and you could very well be making the biggest mistake of your life!

Thanks for the kind words. I talk to my Sammy also. He was my little guy, and he was no-nonsense. When my brother yelled at my mom or me (he had some problems in adolescence, as we all did), Sam would chase my brother out of the room. Literally. It was so awesome.
When did Black Rock City become such a popular place?
