movies from this weekend:

lifeforce
great 80s cheese, featuring nude space vampires, over-the-top acting, awesome practical effects and steve railsback reluctantly kissing captain jean luc picard. it is a little long though.... directed by tobe hooper and written by dan o'bannon.

the best i can say about it is that the gore was fun and over the top and the idea was pretty cool; the worst i can say about it is that it was incredibly inconsistent--the music, the acting, the characters. plus i find it always takes me out of a movie when something is supposed to be "the most beautiful ____ in the ____" and then they actually show it and it's not.

grandma's boy
it was stupid and unsophisticated, but i giggled pretty fiercely throughout. coming from long-time adam sandler colleague/croney allen covert, i didn't have high expectations and was pleasantly surprised. not to mention it was way funnier than any of sandler's recent attempts at comedy (the last comedy he was in that i laughed at was little nicky, and even that wasn't great). has anyone else noticed how incestuous his crew is though?
