Greetings from sunny and hot Las Vegas to all my faithful followers, loyal friends, and random stumble uponers, though it will be cloudy ⛅️ tomorrow with thunderstorms ⛈ in the forecast. No eclipse viewing here. Boo!
The Aspiring Photographers Meetup Group here in Las Vegas is having another astrophotography & light painting Meetup. This time it's at Rhyolite Ghost Town just west of Beatty, NV.
The Meetup officially starts at 5:00 PM, but I'm planning to get there early to get more photos of Rhyolite and the exhibits at the Goldwell Outdoor Museum, which includes ghost 👻 sculptures and a few other things. As the sun sets, I'll be taking plenty of sunset photos. Sunset is at 7:01 PM. The moon 🌙 won't be new; it'll be a waxing crescent (15.8% full). But it sets at 8:59 PM so there will be ample time for astrophotography and light painting after it sets. I'll be bringing along laser pointers and glow sticks, and perhaps other light sources such as sparklers and colored lights for light painting. Not planning to bring stuff for burning steel wool photography, but someone else from the Meetup group probably will.
I hope some local SG peeps can come have some fun with me. Models are welcome and I'd love to do some fun clothed and cosplay shoots with you. It probably won't be suitable for nudes. And I'm sure other photographers would like the opportunity too. I can probably get the other photographers to chip in some cash ($10 - $20 per photographer per model shot - or something like that). That's something that is usually requested/recommended whenever there are models at a meetup.
