Greetings from Las Vegas to all my loyal followers, faithful friends, random stumble uponers, and SG Staff: @missy, @rambo, @erikad, and all the rest!
This blog is primarily for my American followers, friends and stumble uponers, but anyone can comment!
In the US, it's Memorial Day. It's a holiday set aside to remember all those who died protecting America from its enemies, foreign and domestic. It's also become the official beginning of summer.
But, if you are an American, before you head out to lake, beach, mountains, river, park, stream, etc; crack open that first soda, Coke, beer, etc; fire up the grill and throw down some burgers, chicken, ribs, pork shoulder, brisket, steaks, chops, etc; take a moment to remember all those who died protecting our freedom and the opportunity to live our lives as we do.
FREEDOM'S STAIN (written by me)
Blood is FREEDOM'S stain
Life is FREEDOM'S sacrifice
Liberty is FREEDOM'S gain
Death is FREEDOM'S price
Remember the heroes...
Thanks for waiting me out. As an USAF Veteran, that's something I have to write somewhere every Memorial Day.
OK EVERYONE! What are you doing on this Memorial Day... aka First Official Day of Summer?
For Mrs. DeadGuitarist and me, it's going to be an exiting, fun and, possible, long day. We'll be heading out about 2 PM PDT to Toshiba Plaza and T-Mobile Arena...
YES! We have tickets to GAME 1 of the STANLEY CUP FINAL between the Washington Capitals and OUR VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS! Mrs. DeadGuitarist purchased our tickets just minutes after they clinched the Western Conference. They were less than $700 per ticket then. Now they're a bit more expensive, but surprisingly not astronomically so. We knew they would be for Game 1 or Game 3. Since the Washington Capitals won the Eastern Conference, we're going to Game 1!
The game starts at 5 PM, well, the on ice, pre-game festivities will start at 5 PM. Doors open at 3:30 - 4 PM PDT. But before the doors open there's plenty going on in Toshiba Plaza, food, beverages, games, and a free concert by Li’l Jon. Not my favorite kind of music, but he's a huge Vegas Golden Knights fan and it's free so, why not!
I'll be wearing my new #71 WILLIAM KARLSSON home sweater with the Western Conference Championship cap. Mrs. DeadGuitarist will be wearing her home sweater without name and number -- her custom jersey #17 VEGAS STRONG hasn't arrived yet -- and Vegas Golden Knights leggings.
We have patches to get sewn on our sweaters, a puck from each Stanley Cup Playoff series, decals, game day posters, yearbooks, all kinds of memorabilia. Yeah, we're Vegas Golden Knights and Stanley Cup CRAZZZEEEE here in Vegas!
I'll try to take some photos, video, and maybe go live during the pre-game festivities and during the game and/or intermissions on one or more of my Instagram accounts @photosbywlg (my model photography account), @photosbywlg2 (my account for all my other photography and a backup to @photosbywlg) and @_grillsgt (my personal account).
FUN FACT
Here's a fun fact... I proposed to Mrs. DeadGuitarist on October 29, 1993 at a hockey game. The Anaheim Mighty Ducks hosted... you guessed it... the Washington Capitals. Obviously, she said yes!
